Hi all,

I saw this image from Dougies Helmand Project and was wondering how I can make poppy fields as good as those?

Image

I think they are made from door mats but I guess the specific door mat in pretty important for that look. Where in the UK can I get a door mat like that?

Thanks but I did kind of know it was fake grass. I was hoping someone could provide a link for a supplier in the UK of fake grass that looks like the one in the picture. I'm sure some looks like green leafy crops at 20mm scale, whilst some just looks like, well grass! I don't want to buy the wrong thing, so any links or direction to s seller of the right stuff would be much appreciated.

Hi there,

On his blog Dougie mentions that he used plastic astroturf as a start for those fields, a quick google search for "plastic astroturf doormat" gave me several sources including E-Bay for such mats. Prices vary but here are a few for a start...

Hope these help,

Jim

Thanks, that helped a lot. I found one on that page that has close-ups and it looks like the right stuff!
