We're pushing out the final day of the Strikeforce Contest. Between the holidays in the middle and a few people wrangling with emails we've decided to give a little more time for entries to get in.

So, the new end date is the 31st of this month. ALL entries must be in before February 1st. Voting will start on February 2nd for the fan favorite!

Does that mean I can add some weathering and mud washes and resubmit my entry by the end of the month?

Sure. Although as a rule of thumb, we'd prefer it if entries were final.

ok, understand reason for the extension...although would have been nice if we were notified before the closing date as it seems unfair to those of us who stuck to the original deadline and thus may not have been able to submit an entry to a standard we were entirely happy with...some may view it as unfair advantage to those who enter after the original closing date as they now get to see the existing entries and can work to surpass the entries already submitted...

so, in view of fairness, can entries that have already been submit be allowed to resubmit? Not a whole new force but allow additional work on the models already submitted (weathering, additional highlighting, etc) and also rework of the fiction submitted with the entry....

i will be upfront and say that for myself I would only wish to rework my fiction as I did it at the last minute to make sure my entry made it in by the original closing date...

See, in my mind this is a friendly event in which people can share pictures of forces and ideas for units that they're excited about or proud of - not a competition in which allowing folks who had difficulties getting their entries in on time due to the vagaries of the internet, unexpected weather, and holiday commitments would be seen as giving anyone an "edge."

We've already said that entrants can make adjustments to your entry if they wish, but we'd prefer that entries submitted be final. So, if you feel like you need to make adjustments, make adjustments.

I have to say, though, that as far as we're concerned, an extra week or two of polishing isn't going to make any difference on our votes. We're not looking for the most technically perfect paint jobs or even the best written back story. We're looking for a combination of enthusiasm and creativity that tells us the entry is from a person who had FUN putting it together - the kind of fun that comes from being inspired by a good game and a friendly community. I imagine that the fan favorite will be voted for in the same manner.

I hope folks will find the contest was worth participating in whether they win or not, simply because they had fun with their entries. I know we've had a lot of fun seeing the great stuff that each and every one of you have come up with!

Best of luck to all of you in the voting!

cool, i just said my piece as when the word competition is used and prizes are on the line ppl can get a bit serious about this sort of thing and sometimes saying what i did means others who may have wanted to say it but couldnt (cause they are too nice most likely) have the issue aired...as u said its about fun and in the end we are all here to enjoy seeing what other ppl come up with for their forces and further our love of the game...

personally, i entered not in the hope of winning (my painting-foo isnt that strong) but due to the buzz about a new game (for me)...plus anything that motivates me to paint is a good thing...and some of the stuff i have seen posted for the comp has definitely been inspirational & motivating :)

I understand where Frosty is coming from, he was planning on submitting his neo samurai (which were clearly awesome) but instead submitted his Coalition Patrol Group to keep within the AA rules.

Especially in 'friendly' events people like feel they have been treated fairly, me included.

Changing the rules after the fact calls into question the fairness of the process, and it will be intersting to see if the winners turn out to be people who enter after the cut off date.

Having considered Shawn's comment that he would prefer entries to remain unchanged, I will not be changing my entry, but I do now have some reservations.

To avoid any suspicions of collusion or unfair advantage, entries received after the 15th will only be eligible for the Fan Favorite prize.

Does that work?

That sounds fair, I for one appreciate the gesture, and I am sure there are others who appreciate it as well.

The entries so far look excellent, good luck guys.

that is a fair & equitable outcome to me...the fact Shawn was willing to take our concerns into consideration is really encouraging to me as a player as it shows AA are more than willing to take the view of players into consideration, especially when expressing a concern about something, unlike other companies i wont mention...

anyways, moving on to a more positive note....best of luck to all entries, there has been some really amazing strike forces put on display in this competition...shows a really high standard amongst this community and hope it only gets higher :)

Just to be clear and avoid any problems in the future - the entries posted today (the 16th) were sent to us prior to the 15th but could only be posted today due to technical difficulties (or because they were received after we were off line yesterday), so entries made today, prior to this post, are eligible for ALL prizes.

Just FYI!

Heya

The problem with contests is they bring out the competative edge in people, sometimes this results in some fantastic work/skills/levels but it also results in a lot of frustration because at the end of the day there is always more people who don't win than there are who do.

I rarely enter competitions for this reason as serious people rarely understand the just for fun "amateur" approach but i've been working on this force for some time and since it's finish coincided with the realease of Tomorrow's war and the timing of the competition was good i thought why not.

The only thing i've done actively for this contest is make more scenery for the gaming table, and that is primarily so that i can get on and game :), and while i won't be doing anything more for the contest i would ask all those on these forums to take the time available (ie the extension) and follow the links provided by the various entrants to look at the forces outside of the contest... because if the others are anyrthing like myself then they'rve probably documented it somewhere, and its difficult to do justice to someones hobby in just 5 photos.

All the best and while we're waiting for the new deadline happy gaming... there's plenty of strike forces on standby.

Ps, If people are allowed to enter late then they should still be able to go for gold, otherwise why extend the deadline?

People seemed unhappy that we'd extended the deadline to give more people a chance to enter. This seemed the only fair way to extend the deadline and avoid accusations of favoritism should someone had won who entered late. :)

An entry was missed in the creation of the poll. It has been added. It's SHAWN'S fault though for trusting me to do this. I blame him and everyone else should as well.
