heroes / larger than life cinematic characters for Ambush alley/Force on Force. Kinda like the somali leader in day of the ranger, big benefits but big drawbacks if they are killed.
and of course scifi
to be honest what I want the most right this second (other than an affordable source of quality modern 15mm vehicles), is updates to the current stuff clearing up some of the rules that need clarification. and more quick reference sheets. Oh and a quality set of game counters, which I still offer up my services to help design something of the quality level these games deserve.

Quote: how about a standard AA game that's interrupted by the Ambush Z horde. The regulars and insurgents have to join forces to survive the attack. Also, don't tell your players you're doing it.

seriously what about a beirut 1982 mini campaign for force on force ... u choose a force from quite an extensive list .. u have have a hardcore building block of say 3 squads and then u add your assets , a tank , a technical , a gun , a mortar .. whatever ... as u progress ( win battles ) thru the campaign u can add assets ( sorry - is this sounding like necromunda .. )
of course leave syrians and israelis either for the power gamers or as a kinda wandering monster phenomena ....

GangSTERS would be cool. GangSTA'S, not so much.
I'm thinking the new Pulp rules will handle that nicely.....

Like this idea very much. Assets could be randomised by faction so SLA gets M113s, PLO gets T-34/85 and so on. Each 'win' adds an asset and the winner rolls from an 'asset list'. Could also upgrade your guys in a similar way to 'Tougher Than They Look'. You have me thinking now...
Was considering a similar idea around chronicling a tour in Iraq with an individual squad- add an almost role playing aspect in a similar way to the old Charlie Company rules. Shawn has sone something similar with his recent Iraq AA scenario releases.

I agree, the most fun I've had wargaming was in a small series of linked scenarios with persistant main characters. In character negotiations are alot of fun. A touch of role playing really made the game deeper.
