In the time honoured AAG fashion of actually listening to its customers, I figured I would see what people wanted to see next for F-on-F.
I have a number of ideas and things done for a few periods, so those on the poll reflect those projects that I can, or have been, dabbling in.
Also I have purposely left out WW2 as those projects will be proceeding to a plan that we already have.
So make your choice, Im interested in what people think about these more exotic topics!

Well that is already in development - I hope to co-author it with a mate at my club who is researching the period.
Its a longterm project though as he we are both also looking at the possibility of a US WW2 D-Day book.

Good show: I have astack of Mongrel Miniatures figures and Sloppy Jalopy vehicles to sort out and this might be some inspiration.

Piers, I guess the both of you will be aware of it, but just to make sure, a must read on the the Soviet Afghanistan experience, and a most effective tool in writing scenarios are these two books:
1) The Bear went over the Mountain. Soviet Combat Tactics in Afghanistan by Lester W. Grau. Which is actually a translation of the Soviet (Russian) Frunze Academy book. Tons of scenarios with detailed infos
and the companion volume ...
2) Afghan Guerilla Warfare. In the Words of the Mujahideen Fighters by Ali Ahmad Jalali & Lester W. Grau
Both give maps, OOB's, background and a report of the action. In this case incl. a viewpoint from both participating sides ...

Cheers Jimo, we have both of them! I think they are about the best two books on the subject to be honest.
I also have a few bits from a mate who served with some VDV Afghan Vets...
That will be a long-term project though, we want to do a few other bits first, though once Leigh gets 'Helmand' done I may push Afghanistan up the pile a bit...

Thanks for the replies chaps.
Im not surprised to see the Arab-Israeli War top the vote, it seems the most logical area to look at. For me its one I need to do alot more research on first, but I do have a mate who is up on the period so I will be discussing with him what we would need to look at to theme the period correctly.
I am surprised that Iran-Iraq War came next. This is one that I am quite keen to do as its a period I have gamed for several years and provides for a great variety of games. I suspect this may be something I look at working on fairly soon as I have a large amount of research on the period.
For myself I will be working on an Indo-Pak War supplement as Im building forces for the period this year as my major 2010 moderns project.
So I will be looking into the Middle East over the next few weeks with a view to research for a new supplement.

Piers:
Let us know how we can help on the Arab-Israeli wars...I have a pretty good bibliography worked up (in English, as my Hebrew has lapsed since graduate school). I also have a ton of 15mm Peter Pig purchased and am more than willing to playtest/try out/kitbash/volunteer for whatever you need done.

Well any good reference material covering combat performance would be useful...
Anything that looks at battlefield performance really for both sides in the conflict more than the diplomatic historiography.
Cheers dude. I will keep you in mind for playtesting!

I put Iran-Iraq on the poll, but Arab-Israel would be good, too.

Chaim Herzogs "Arab - Israeli Wars" would be a good starting point IMO. He covers these from the Israeli side since he was an active participant in most of them.
Still he isnt over the top with it and is a good read.

Well Iran-Iraq War is my favoured choice, as I play it currently, and along with the Indo-Pakistan Wars are two periods that I have already done research for.
I suspect I may have a stab at an Iran-Iraq War book soon, if the Bossman agress!

Nod about "diplomatic" versus "battlefield." A lot of what I have is '73 Golan Heights and '73 Bar Lev line assaults by the Egyptian commandos in terms of reference material. Let me get some of it typed up and I'll post a link.

My money would go with the Spanish Civil War because of the complexity of the allegiances, the foreign influences, and the sheer ugly/dirty/vicious/messy conflict that resulted. With all the convoluted goals, the victory conditions could be quite interesting.
And don't forget, Rick Blaine, proprietor of "Rick's Cafe Americain", was fighting on the side of the Republicans, as mentioned in "Casablanca".
