Dear all,
can someone help with a question a colleague has raised.
His scenario was two AFVs, one in front of the other, the one to the rear being more than half obscured by the front AFV (eg if in convoy). If that rear AFV was shot at, it would get a +1 defence dice as a cover modifier for being more than 1/2 obscured. However, if the enemy shot at it and missed, wouldn't there be a good chance that the stray shot would hit the covering vehicle to the front? If the 'cover' was a building it wouldn't matter, but if it is a live vehicle, then it becomes an important question.
Any thoughts you have would be most welcome!
As an aside, this arose out of our preparation for a Cold War Gone Hot - Flight to the West demo game we are laying on at the Attack wargame show in Devizes (GB) this weekend. If any of you are there, please come along and say hello.
Malc

One of those places that rolling another die for odd/even or a TQ check might help. From what I see you saying, I'm wondering if there was a valid shot, as line of sight might have passed through the lead vehicle and prevented a "center of shooting unit" to "center of target unit" view. If you both judged that there was, then it might be interesting to add the chances to hit the lead tank. This sounds more like the odd/even D6 roll rather than a TQ check to me. Not really covered in the rules but an interesting little thing I might add on the spot as a GM if my players brought it up.
