Callous A unit with this attribute is callous towards its own casualties. Casualties are left where they fall, perhaps to be dragged to safety or burial later. Such units are not subject to the rules in the Casualties section and need not make First Aid Checks for casualties. Their casualties are simply removed from the table. Callous units are not subject to the Casualty Penalty. This attribute is common among insurgent groups or fanatical militia groups.
"Need not make First Aid Checks for casualties"...Need not implies I can.... why wouldnt I make First Aid checks to recover lightly Wounded and Ok then ignore Seriously wounded/Dead(i dont suffer a Casualty penalty??
Shouldn't the wording be "Doesn't make First Aid Checks" ..or what is the thinking here???
thx Z.

Right before the "need not" is the important part to your answer: "Such units are not subject to the rules in the Casualties section." I guess it could be worded as "callous units do not roll on the first aid table as their casualties are removed from play immediately."
Basically the only thing a callous unit will do when it takes casualties is take morale checks. Otherwise just remove the casualties from the table and then continue playing.

Oh, ouch.
I had misread the rule. The insurgent player would roll for First Aid, and we simply removed anything that wasnt 'Ok!" or "Light Wound' - but it makes sense what you are saying that for "Callous" troops all casualties just get removed at the time.
Thank you for clarifying.

Thats how I interpreted it as well Serge... is that an official ruling?? In my mind a true casualty is after consulting the First Aid table...??

Callous forces don't make First Aid Checks. Any figure that goes down is removed from play.
