How many firepower dice does a sniper team get.

2 (2 men in the team)
1 (optimum range)
2 (fireteam rules)
______
5 in total (Plus Abundent supply if aplicable)

Is that right? It seems a bit low given their ability to dominate a battle field.

Does a sniper rifle count as a light support weapon or anything?

Page 138 says "Note that only one of a units leaders, gunners or special figures may be killed by a single sniper team attack."

Two questions spring to mind about this...
1) if the sniper target a specific model what happerns to the rest of the firepower successes- are they lost or alocated as normal.
2) is the sniper teams specific model target 'Killed' as it says in the text or just a casualty, as is implied in the rules.

Don't know if I'm right, but we counted the dice as you did, no support weapon. We then fire at a unit as normal and give one hit, and only one hit to a leader or whoever and roll it as normal. The remaining hits are then also rolled as normal. Of course this is all done in the correct phase.

Rob,

You are right in figuring out your dice for the sniper team. That is unless they are using a heavy rifle. (Page 138)

See the Example on page 138 in the FoF rulebook to see the answer to your question.

Also check Page 137 for the rules concerning sniper teams and special rules for them being able to slip into Cover and Hide.

A common mistake most players make, IMO, in that they dont keep the snipers way back and forget how easily they can go into hide and get cover. Dont mistake them for an assault element. They are terrain deniers and considerations in the back of the opponents brain.

Also, I usually have units coming under sniper fire take a Suppression Check. Just seems right.

If a sniper team or weapons team moves during a round do they still get their team bonus?

If the weapon is capable of begin fired on the move yes.

ATGM, Guns, and larger support weapons can not move and fire in the same turn.

You are correct - any team fired upon by a weapons team (which a sniper team qualifies as) has to automatically make a suppression check. Without suffering the -2 FP dice modifier.

Low confidence units would make their suppression check with a -1 die mod
Confident units would make a suppression check if the total modified FP was 3+
High confidence units would only check if fired upon by an intimidating weapon.

The example on page 138 says the leader is removed and the two other hits are determined randomly. Only one leader, sUpport weapon or special figure may be removed per sniper attack. What if the group attacked only had three figs left, a leader, support weapon and say a medic, would you then ignore the other two hits?

If there are only three figures left and three hits are caused, all three figures go down. Snipers can only dictate that one figure per attack as a selected casualty.
