Gents,

Long time….. no game, so this weekend, after a false start on the last, I manage to grab the crew, set a game, and have a fun afternoon…

I admit that my source of inspiration for this one, was some of Thanos excellent work, namely his eastern front village http://miniaturesterrainpage.blogspot.com/2011/07/nice-little-village-in-east.html

So I pick a GW battlemat (by the way excellent stuff) together with a couple GW hills, put them under the mat; grabbed some Pegasus Hobbies Izbas, an Adventurer Spirit rubber track (sadly OOP), some home made fences, teddy bear fur, some trees (K&M) and presto a basic 1,2x1,2m Eastern Front tabletop for some skirmishing gaming.

Now the story…. Easy……………during the second phase of Bagration, after the fall of Minsk, the Red Army keeps pressing the german units on the retreat. On the Naliboka forest area, a group of partisans had just got in contact with some Razvedchiki teams, that after asserting the STAVKA control…. prepared some rearguard actions against the local german positions, to disrupt and destroy important assets…..

Played with Osprey’s Force on Force, with some mods to make it more WW2….
It also had a quirk, it was prepared to play one side, sort of solitaire scenario, with all players controlling the partisans and Razvedchiki, while the german units appearing and reactions were controlled in random pattern – using a system developed for Crossfire by Chuck Parrot.

The soviets had the Initiative for all the game, but some of their numbers were Irregulars, so some extra problems.
First moves, with the Razvedchiki teams on reserve – later on Overwatch – while all the offensive actions fall on the partisans.

Carefully they detected some dug in german forces, quickly overrun them.
So they started to sweep the village from East to West, searching and destroying all possible german positions

In reality, luck wasn’t on German side, as their positions were weak, and wrongly established – well they expect an attack from East, but not North, so apart from some stubborn resistance by a couple of positions, in the end, almost without casualties, the soviets manage to win.

A fun, fast and furious game, all what we need for the start of another season of wargaming

Thanks for looking, and comments welcome as always.

Check «Faux Paux» on the web.

In the past some people posted some links to some shops.

I got mine from a Carnival suit    but also from some fabric outlet.

A+
