Hi all, I ran a scenario of Force on Force at Fall Recruits this past weekend. The scenario is one I co-wrote with my brother entitled Fort Apache. I have added a link to the PDF of the scenario below. The session ran Saturday morning. I had five players, three that had never played the game, one that had just been introduced to the system the night before, and “seasoned veteran” (he had played just a handful of games before). In the scenario an AH-64 has been shot down by the Taliban. A US Army patrol is nearby and a fire team rushes forward to check on the crew of the downed chopper. The local Taliban are gathering to make a run toward the Apache to capture the crew and get valuable weapons and data from the helicopter. The game went back and forth between the two sides. The Taliban missed a few reinforcement rolls and the Americans missed all but one air strike call. With the Americans laying down a great deal of firepower the Taliban lost men hand over fist. As the fire fight continued, there were several Americans that got hit, with 2 being killed during the combat. Twice the Taliban called in DShK equipped technicals, but were unable to use them to any effect against the Americans. The Taliban did get to with in the required distance to contest the LZ, but not before one of the Taliban units gets wiped out in a close assault from the second American squad. The one air strike that did get called in was mostly ineffective but did get three of the Taliban in the wadi. However, the Caveman CasEvac roll came up all sixes. At the end of the game the Taliban did have the LZ contested but would have lost it the next turn if the scenario had lasted one more turn. The reinforcement roll for the last turn didn’t bring any new units on and the last unit in the LZ was going to be up against the full force of the Americans. Between shear fire power and enough fire teams to both shoot and close assault the Taliban would have been done for. All in all, I felt the scenario ran well and it seemed everyone had fun. I will be running this scenario again at MillenniumCon in November. Hope to see some of y’all there. By the way, here is the link to download the scenario PDF https://files.me.com/carnold1/97fee3

Just wondering where you got your river/roads, if you made them, etc?
Also, I see alot of pictures of miniatures off to the side on top of papers when tables are being set up. I am guessing stat sheets? Trying to find a quick and easy way to run scenarios at my LGS before I actually run one, so it will go smooth.

The straight road through the middle is made by Miniature Worldmaker, out of Australia. The smaller roads in the town and the river are made by JR MiniaturesThe cards are stat cards, I need to get them into a format most people can access. They are currently in Apple's Pages format, I will get them into an .xls format for the rest of you and get them posted.

Here is a link to the .doc file for the stat cards I used. Let me know if you can't edit them. https://files.me.com/carnold1/g2t95l

I think it was kittens and the chilies were closely guarded by Shawn's pet honey badger.

Actually it is the Revell 1:100 snap tite kit I bought for something like $5.00 from the local Michael's Hobby Center. http://www.revell.com/model-kits/snaptite/85-1373.html

Hey - "Seasoned Veteran" here! Thanks for running the scenario - it was my favorite of the convention. I also saw everyone having fun at the table and really think things ran smoothly. Thanks again and I hope to see you at another "Recruits" in the future!

@Skow, thank you for the kind remarks. I'm glad you had a good time. I am already planning my trip for Spring Recruits this coming March30-31 April 1. I will be having at least one scenario if not two. @ Whoa, yeah that was a blast. Was it a "cat house" or a wedding party? Either way there was way to much AK fire coming from that building.
