OK so this past weekend I ran a playtest of my Little Wars Scenario that I wrote. COP Viking is about a Marine Combat Outpost that has been out of communications for three days. Reports are that insurgent activity in the area has been down, so it is strange that there has been no communications. Marine command sends a light recon unit out to investigate.

An overview of the area, COP Viking is on the left middle
Image

Here you see the light Recon unit heading into the area and they immediately start taking fire.
Image

The lead Humvee has its M2 taken out
Image

The unit gets closer to COP and the fire from insurgents intensifies
Image

As they begin to enter the COP one LAV has its 25mm taken out. As the Marines dismount they see signs of LOTS of blood.
Image

A lucky shot takes one LAV completely out!
Image

The Marines enter the compound.
Image

And soon realize why there has been no communications!
Image

Short work is made of the first creature
Image

But more keep coming and soon take out another LAV
Image

But they still keep coming.
Image

And more
Image

But the Marines keep up their fire even though they loose a man
Image

The Queen finally comes out.
Image

But again the Marines make short work out of her. At this point we called the game. I do need to do some more fine tuning of the bugs. They did die too easily. Once I have the "bugs' worked out I will post the whole scenario!

I just started going through the first 3 seasons of Stargate SG1 episodes again, and having seen this, I could see FoF doing a pretty good job with that sort of game.

More than likely I will be re-stating the bugs as a up armored softskin vehicle to increase their survivability. This way small arms can hurt them at 1/2 FP. And they will have more attack dice because they have 4 claws So like 6 attack dice (4 - 1 for each claw, 1 extra in close combat and each claw is considered a lT support weapon. But I have to test this out as the way I had them was not strong enough.

While this is true, the ongoing surprise is where they will pop up as they tunnel up from underground. So just because a unit activates doesn't mean a bug will appear!

My buildings are from Paperterrain.com for the paper buildings, the larger ones are the foam core line from GameCraft Miniatures which I really recommend as they are very easy to put together.
