Pnz IV looks over armoured, as whilst the max armour is 80mm that is the mantlet rest is 50mm - the Sherman is 76mm effective all the way up, likewise both have similar side armour, if anything the Sherman is better, I have 43 to 33.

Guns - again I'd nudge the US 75 upward, it has better, and more reliable ammunition.

I disagree. The German 75mm L48 was a much better gun than the shorter 75mm Sherman gun and had a better armor penetration. And german AP ammonition had a very good quality.

The armour of both tanks is comparable, the Sherman is a little bit better at the gun mantlet, and while the hull armour is thinner when compared to the PzIV, it is better angled.
A late war Sherman with the 47° front armour would be even better.
But i would reduce the side armor of the Pz IV, it is only 30mm thick and the Schürzen only offer protection against hollow charges and AT-Rifles.

Do not forget the .50 cal on the turret top of the Sherman. While you have to expose yourself in order to fire it, it is still an excellent weapon.
