Just because there is not a specific scenario dedicated to certain countries' involvement doesn't mean, that you cannot game them with your favourite ISAF contingent. I will for sure use the scenerios given and replay some with my German Bundeswehr. I just need more Dingo transports.

Ty

I beg your pardon again as a newbie in this era, as I wrote my wargaming area of interest is mainly "sword and shield".
I'm not finding all that difficult in finding info on a TO&E for italian squad, the problem is the opposite... I found 3 or 4 different proposal, depending on wich vehicle is used VTLM Lince or VBM Freccia.
I'm focused only in squad used in EF, maybe there are more variations in other operations.

For Infantry like Bersaglieri this this should be a standard company, 4 platoon (+ logistic/support etc.non-included here for simplicity) carried with VBM Freccia:
3 x10men squad
VBMFreccia + 1 driver (AR 70/90) + 1 gunner Cal.50 (AR 70/90)
3 riflemen AR 70/90
1 rifleman AR 70/90 + panzerfaust3
2 grenadier AR 70/90 + 40mm Granade-launcher (I forgot the name)
2 minimi 5,56

1 command squad
VBMFreccia + 1 driver (AR 70/90) + 1 gunner Cal.50 (AR 70/90)
1 Platoon commander
1 Vice Platoon commander
1 C4 aka Radio operator ;-)
2 Mg ca l7,62
1 rifleman AR 70/90 + panzerfaust3
1 rifleman AR 70/90 + 60mm mortar

Handle this info with extreme caution, because I'm founding more documents that needs to be read.

Question: where can I find an "APP-6(A)" complete guide for TO&E?
Ciao

I'm glad you could find something you could use! Thanks for sharing!

Therein is one of the strengths of our game, I think. We don't expect people who play our game to hang off our teats waiting for nourishment in the form of "official army lists." We respect our players enough to assume that they're quite capable of coming up with their own information as needed.

We'll continue to try to give you the best information we can, but players of our games are never left sitting on their thumbs because the "Ultra-Codex of Coalition Forces, Nuristan, January through March, 2009" hasn't been published yet.

If you guys want to supply me with photos and a list of kit used for the Italians I will make a couple of sets to at least allow you to play the scenarios with Italian figures. I already plan on making the Germans (thanks to info supplied by Sgt Scream) and Canadians (due to repeated requests. They will be in 20mm, so if you game other scales I can't help though.

Email me direct with photos/links and in a couple of months...who knows?

For this you just have to send me a PM, I can submerge with pics ;-)
I already got some 28mm from venexia miniatures... but I'm not against use of 20mm ;-)

For italian infanty the only trick I can suggest is the head-swap-system... why?
Simple: there 5 main type of head:

- Bersaglieri (mechanized infantry - fritz with the typical set of cock feathers on the right)
Image
- Alpini (Mountain troops - fritz - with a single feather o the left),
Image
- All the rest, parà, carabinieri, etc. with "beret", tropical hat, and fritz

Standard weapon is the Beretta ar/70... but really in 20mm scale I think it looks similar to M16.

Your US range can be easily converted with low effort ;-)
Vehicles in 20mm are unavailable, there we see differences we have a complete set of home-made armoured car, troop transport etc.

Ciao

Just a point of correction here on some of the comments- OEF includes Canadian, Danish, Dutch, French and (rather extensive) German TO&Es along with US, UK, ADF and of course ANA.

Concord and C&S are both good sources for TO&E and heartily recommended although it appears Special Ops has unfortunately ground to a halt.

Again: the absence of italians is a great lack for something that is called "enduring freedom", but I'm proud to announce that a first edition of Italian TO&Es it's on a final revison.
At the moment it lacks of vehicles info, but you'll find all the troops used from the beginning: alpini, bersaglieri, paratroopers, special forces etc... a new thread will be open in the right section when ready.

I can't wait to see this. My brother was deployed to Camp Stone in Herat in 2008-09. He always commented on how great the Italian troops were. He said they were always friendly and ready to get the job done. He made many fiends while he was there and I think he still keeps in touch with them.

So thank you for getting this info for us, it is greatly appreciated.

So this is what I got from my brother,

The problem is the Italians at Stone were all OMLTs (Observer Military Liaison Teams - pronounced "omelet"), ANA advisors. Same with the Spanish and Slovenes. Like US ETTs, they were NCO and Officer-heavy.

They'd go out in their jeepy-looking things armed with M2 .50 cals and MG3s (copy of the MG42 chambered in 7.62 NATO). Maybe 6 trucks at a time.

They had a habit of firing warning shots at our convoys during low light. How you mistake a Cougar MRAP for a VBIED, I have no idea. Then again, about a week or two before we got there, 2 VBIEDs took out two of their jeepy things by the airfield. I'd be twitchy, too.

I wish I had some photos of their kit.

So there you have it, about as close to the source as I can get. Again this is based off my brother's experience on his deployment from late 2008-May 2009 to Camp Stone, Herat Province Afghanistan.

Cheers,
