Actualy we do ...its computed in the stats see page 92 under vehicle atributes for a brief explanation. see page 141 Enhanced fire control...page 142 under Fire or move. we also have rather lively debates and do consider Stabalization 2,3 and (4 axis in the future) range finders and balistic computers optics basicaly everything...Also Troop quality.....Mikey

Maybe unstabilized tanks should not be allowed to freely combine rapid move and fire, like infantry, too?! One idea I was testing the other day for my 'War in the North' project was to reduce the TQ level by one stope for those firing on the move with a low tech level weapon system. Im also muting porting over the TW tech levels to add a technological qualiative difference but that may be going too far...

The TQ-solution might be a good idea, but hard to tell if my Soviet player will accept it. He's already unhappy with some of the special rules. This would hit him more than me, since I can filed Abrams and Pattons, but neither Soviet tank model had fully stabilsed gun systems in the 80s.
Another solution might be to up-shift stablised, laser controlled guns one step. As far as I got it, it's almost impossible to miss with a Leopard 2 or Abrams.

The TQ solution seems to be a good way to go as it also factors in crew experience with the equipment. I did several NTC rotations when the Abrams were first fielded and the OPFOR loved fighting them. The new Abrams units focused on speed instead of gunnery and made a lot of mistakes. Joke was the M1 just got them into the kill box faster.....The M1 guys lost until they figured out how to fight the tank well. It can be safe to assume that the guys receiving the M1 in Germany had the same learning curve. During this time the OPFOR hated M60A3 rotations because they knew the crews were relying on gunnery and tactics - it made the OPFOR work for it. On the same note they absolutely HATED Bradley units. The M2/M3 absolutely decimated the 'BMP' MRBs and hurt the Tank Battalion badly with the TOW (every vehicle is an ITV)......
Another solution may be to just do an up/down die shift for just the one die for the advanced fire control or heavy hitter attribute. Lesser experienced crews get the down shift - experienced crews who've mastered the M1/Leopard 2 get the full benefit of advanced fire control. This can be adaptable to the sovs as well - given the lack of stabilization treat them as 'slow turret' and make them shoot last in reaction due to the greater difficulty in shooting on the move for them.

I see I suffered from a case of acronymitus...OPFOR stands for Opposing Force - for those not familiar with the late 80s/early 90s - the National Training Center modeled a Soviet Motor Rifle Regiment for force on force training. They used modified M551 Sheridans for T72 and BMP-1s.

Own troops posing as the enemy in maneuvers or for studies: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opposing_forceThe US Army put quite some effort into OPFOR with visual modifications to older tanks (e.g. M551 Sheridans) to make them look like Soviet tanks.

Another question. In the scenario "Bruder gegen Bruder", where does the Bundeswehr deploy? Unfortunaly there is no blue shaded area on the monochrome map on the monitor.
Greetings Wolflord

Hehe, even in the book-version it's hard to make out. But they deploy opposite to the NVA. Can you see the diffrently shaded large areas on the map? One might be lighter shaded on your monochrome (!!!) display.

Well, it IS there on p.36, but when we went from the original map to the "monitor" the colors didn't translate. It's the part that isn't shaded The Bundeswehr deploy anywhere in the large black area of the map to the west (i.e., the part that isn't shaded at all). Good catch!

I That was my guess, as otherwise the Bundeswehr would virtually start on top of the NVA. Just wanted to be sure. Thank you for your quick answer. Greetings Wolflord

Got mine when I got home. It's amazming. I have been to some of the places in CWGH. But not the fantasy ones. But I have been to Check Point Charlie. Just before we got there was a incident with a American GI trying to get his girlfiriend back acroos to West Berlin, but he tied with a M60 tank.
