Does anyone out there know if the Cold War Bundeswehr possessed/operated any UH-1C Huey or AH-1 Cobra gunships? Thanks in advance.

For what I know, the only armed chopper of Bundeswher was the BO105PAH-1,that was specially designed for a/t combat. For this was armed with six HOT a/t missiles, and after with HOT2 (PAH-1A1 version).Don't know other German combat choppers.

As Maggico said, during the Cold War there was only one armed helicopter in Bundeswehr service in West Germany - the before mentioned BO 105 PAH-1.

The Huey (UH-1D) was available as transport chopper but normally not armed.

Please note that the UH-1D was called with the "D" meaning Deutschland (Germany). The version is actually a model "H" with the T53-L13B engine (UH-1H).

The closest the Germans got to a UH-1 gunship was their fitting of the TAT-101D chin turret to some number of their UH-1Ds. Like the USMC with their TAT-101Es, they found the turret to be unreliable and more of liability than anything else. They canceled that program in 1972.
