In case you haven't heard, there was a joint SAS/Delta-Force mission in Afghanistan on Saturday which successfully rescued 4 aid workers being held hostage by a band of criminals with links to the Taliban. Reports vary from source to source but I gather 11 kidnappers were killed and there were no SAS/Delta casualties. The operation involved a helicopter insertion some 12 miles from the target, a hike across very formidable terrain carrying 80lb packs, and a final assault on the cave where the hostages were being held. Amazing!
I know the link to FoF is tenuous but I couldn't help posting as this is an example of a perfectly executed mission that undoubtedly saved the lives of those aid workers. Great job guys!
