Hey, it's my first scenario! It's somewhat over-complicated but good fun (although I tweaked it a fair bit after one playtest, and haven't yet tested this amended version). The scenario and its writer both coming from role-playing game backgrounds there's maybe more emphasis on individual characters than is necessary, but I do like the little metal dudes having a bit of personality. That's easily removed by anyone who's not interested, anyway. Here's the blurb:

Somewhere outside Shah Karez, Helmand Province

8 ‘Dunkirk’ Platoon, The Rifles, operating out of a platoon house in the village of Shah Karez, were
conducting a cordon-and-search mission by night when the Taliban took the opportunity to attack
and kidnap a part-time ‘terp known as Hafi at his home elsewhere in the village. The activity was
spotted by an AC-130 Spectre gunship on station, and intelligence analysts immediately began
trying to ascertain where Hafi might have been taken. An agricultural compound outside of town
was determined to be the most likely place, but as the mission plan was being formulated word
arrived of a suicide bomber in the market square wearing Hafi’s clothes, a balaclava and a sign
translated roughly as “This is what happens to traitors”. Quick-thinking by the troops despatched to
the market square revealed the bomber to be a plant, so with the ‘terp’s survival still seeming likely,
a raid on the suspected Taliban headquarters was immediately prepared, with the mission of
rescuing Hafi and hitting the Taliban where it hurts.

This is an entirely fictional scenario based on events in a role-playing game, which in turn had some
elements loosely inspired by The Battle of Jugroom Fort. Any other similarity with real events or
even vaguely realistic behaviour is through blind luck.
