Hey,

I was wondering what figures ya'll are using for the pre-release of TW?

1st Battle of Vallin Farm
The Big Suck
Last Stand on Red Ridge
Bugs in the Reactor

I relatively familiar with the figure lines available, just curious about other's ideas and such...

Thanks!

I haven't actually pared anything up to the scenario's yet. We are still learning the rules.

But for what I have to choose from are:

15mm
Force XXI- Infantry and vehicles
Critical Mass Games Infantry
Rebel Minis- Infantry
Laser burn- Infantry

20mm
Revell- 1/72 plastic modern infantry US and German
1/72 plastic kits
A few Platoon 20 US figs
Israeli figs from "Black Cat Miniatures???" ( I forget where I got them from)
Force XXI 20mm vehicles.

For Bugs in the Reactor, in 15mm:

Bugs = Khurasan Space Daemons
LE/Colonists = GZG FSE Colonial Legionnaires and colonists

In fact, I had the figures, then wrote the scenario. The figures "spoke" to me.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I'm thinking of the different figures available to use for "The Big Suck" and the "The First Battle Of Vallin Farms"...

I've got some ideas, but I'm a bit thrown off by the grenade launcher equipped figs....I don't have many Sci-Fi figs equipped with UGLs...

Funny you should mention that, seems that nearly all mine have UGL ;)

Force XXI... Your 20mm vehicle range, what does a bloke have to do to grab a couple? Or see some pics at least :)

Hi splod89,
Well,
I'm currently off line for health reasons, but I am getting the itch to get back on the market.

I Started some vlogs of my 15mm stuff and I'll post in some of my 20mm stuff tonight.

Actually, I have some of the NAC minis from GZG that all have UGLs also, but I'm using them as a US force...silly me went and painted US flags on their shoulder pads so no double duty for them...needless to say I'm keeping the rest I paint as generic as possible.

I'd like to see the Force XXI 15mm figures as well!

Thanks!

Brian:

For UGLs when UGLs don't exist or are difficult to see in 15mm, simply denote that a figure has the UGL by putting a mark on the base. In our original Ambush Alley games when my son and I were first getting started, our Iraqi insurgents with support weapons were so denoted by putting a casualty ring around them.

Ok, it's confession time...yes, I sometimes let OCD get the better of me, not all the time, but sometimes...however, isn't there a basing recommendation to paint the base a yellow or red to denote a light support weapon or leader?

I'll probably do that, or I'll end up scratch building it...

Thanks!

Brian,

That's a great idea. I normally paint my bases based on the squad. I like the idea of color coding weapons.

Also, have you actually found someone in Pensacola to play FOF/ToW with? I cannot picture the TBS Comics/Warhammer kiddies jumping on board...

Don

Absolutely! Check out Bobe's Hobby House home of the Gulf Coast Tabletop Gaming Society! We have meetings the 2nd Saturday of the month..usually....we're having a game night on Friday night June 4th as well.

Here's a link to the Yahoo Group for it...

In case you didn't know about us or the shop... ;)

Are you going to Bayou Wars?

I think I'm going to give TW w/the new FoF rules sometime after Bayou Wars...I've yet to play the intro scenario for FoF yet though!

@ForceXXI - THANKS, I'll certainly check those out!

Thanks!

Oh yes...I've spent a dollar or two at Bobe's over the years. I did not know about the Gulf Coast Tabletop Gaming Society, nice to know that. All this time I thought i was the most visionary gamer (=lonely) in Pensacola :D . At least my son picked up on the Full Thrust rules enough to crush me every time, after I gave up on the 40KSomethings...

Haven't been to Bayou Wars in a few years (before Katrina). Might have to try and make it this year.

I haven't been able to play anything yet from FoF/TW. Though the Green Beret scenario in TW does look like a fun bloodbath .

We played Full Thrust for a while, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, but the boys have kinda picked up Firestorm Armada lately....they're kinda "tournament-obsessive-much"...LOL...but they're a great group to game with!

Oh...I almost forgot, we're hopefully going to be hosting our very own 1-day gaming convention...Pelicon on July 23rd. I'll have to get some more details on the location, it's not far from the 6-flags race track in the Pine Forest area.

Feel free to email me: simmons3051ATbellsouthDOTnet if you have any questions, or just join the Yahoo Group and post any questions you might have, we're usually pretty quick to respond.

I think they'll be gaming up there this Saturday starting around 10am...go by and say hello if you get the chance, I'll be at a family gig this weekend, but I'm going to try to make the game night on the 4th of June, I might run a game if I can...we'll see.

So, nope, you're not alone...LOL!
