its all good... only reason you might consider differentiating on some small arms...
Laser Carbines are commonly used as target designators for laser guided weapons
so you might have Forward observer etc capabilities on some stands

Not the Imperial Grav APC I'm afraid. You're thinking of the Imperial Marine APC (the 'Empress' in 101V, un-named in CT/Striker and TNE/Striker-II). Two different beasts.

so many different reference sources

Combat Vehicle Guide and Striker 2 for TNE
101 Vehicles for MT

not even counting GT starmercs or Ground Forces
or any of the newer Mongoose stuff

somewhere buried in some files is a full TO&E for a homebrewed lift cavalry regiment, the standard PD system was a twin mount VRF gauss gun slaved to a TL-14 PDFC System

then again our Battledress troops had an automatic GL at squad level, instead of an FGMP for support

yep, I was thinking of the Astrin, which mounts the PDS and the fusion gun, Traveller Hero also uses the Astrin with the RPFG/VRF combo, but this I know because I did the writeups for the book actually

I also managed to get my name used for a character in the backround fluff in GURPS Traveller Ground Forces

when Doug Berry was writing GTGF, he put the names of a bunch of his friends in a hat and drew names that way, except the different sets of Battledress were named after his Drill instructors from Basic Training

I worked on the playtest of Combined Arms Command Decision which is what Striker-2 was based on.
I also playtested Pocket Empires and Imperial Squadrons for T4, and Mechwarrior 2nd Ed for FASA

Very cool!

I prefer the OTU military canon to some of the changes made by Doug in the GURPS ATU. But each to his own I say.

Anyway, with three different Imperial APCs detailed in various Traveller works over the years (TL15 Imperial Grav APC, TL15 'Empress' Imperial Marine APC, and TL14 Astrin Grav APC) there is plenty of choice to equip your unit with!

The original Astrin (introduced in Megatrav) had no armament. It was only in TNE/RCVG that Dave Nilssen brought in an improved variant with armament.

The Imperial Grav APC (first introduced in CT/Adv.1 Kinunir way back when) had only missiles.

The Imperial Marine APC (first introduced in JTAS and CT/Striker) had the RP fusion gun.

lets leave it at I am not a member of the Dave Nilsen fan club for various reasons.

I also kinda cheated on Traveller... I grew up about a mile or two from the GDW home office, and got to hang out there and game on occasion.

I am not quite a GDW/Traveller fanboy, although I was part of the crew that rescued the GDW office sign from destruction. after the office closed the sign hung gathering dust for at least a year, before the owner
decided to scrap it, and I happened to be taking some photos and talked to the guy, he said "100.00 and you take it down" so I put the word out on the traveller mailing list, the owner had a check in his hands
within 48 hours, and we spent an afternoon taking it down, the guy who bought it ran a gaming store called "Medieval Starship" in southern illinois. he restored it and it hung on the store wall, along with some other artifacts, including 2 JTAS cover paintings, and the Traveller Adventure cover. theres also a picture of the owner along with Marc Miller and the sign, and another of the owner and Dave Sering from Judges Guild

I need to talk to Dave Sering again soon, he was making 15mm Type S Scout ships from cardstock, and I wanted one for my office
