What system are folks using for campaigns.

I find that one offs are always a bit less exciting, as having to try and win the battle, and keep enough troops in fighting shape for the next battle.

But have not found a good system that deals with it in a way that flows well.

My dream would be a system that tracked each unit losses and improvements.
That also allowed for a elegant way of handling replacements.

Movement tracked on a map would be nice as well.

Most of what I have found is very light, or cumbersome.

So I thought I would see what folks here were using?

Hi Lee,
the system in the TW rulebook is pretty good for setting up a campaign but is missing stuff like maps, movement, politics and finances. I'd recommend the book 'Wargame Campaigns' by CS Grant (it is old but has some very useful ideas in it). You could also look at 'War Game Campaigns' by D F Featherstone.

I'd also say that C S Grants books 'Scenarios for Wargames', 'Programmed Wargame Scenarios' and 'Wargames for all Ages' are very good books for planning 'brances of a tree/narrative' based campaign where you've already chosen the possible battles and the win or lose changes the next battle according to the campaign tree - with a bonus to the winner and problem to the loser in the next battle. I think there was some stuff in Stargrunt 2 (free from GZG) about campaigns too.

You can do simple narrative one's like this:

or map based

Good luck, let me know how you get on,
Cheers, Johnny

Would be nice if to have the picture size smaller.

Just a thought.

On to the OP's question.

Not that I used this system much but the Battletech Universe had a mercenaries handbook that outlined a lot of this.
Although it was based on Mercenaries getting contracts but the system could be used for keeping track of hired/assigned troops, equipment etc. even break it all down to monthly costs.
