Hey guys.
Thinking of starting up in Ambush Z. Just wondering -- about how many Zombies will I need for a typical game? I'm going to be gaming 20mm ... seems like with the quirk of fate cards and reinforcements, and pop-up zombies, I'll need an insane number of Zs (and be painting for weeks) before I can get started.
Let me know what your experience has been.
Thanks benglish

Greetings,
You have to remember that most AZ games are played on a 2 foot square table and it doesn't take very many turns for the living to start getting in the serious Do-Do with the dead.
I play with my Son in 15mm. I (we) have no more than 50 zed figures, 3 Dexters -but you REALLY don't want that many in a single game, and a dozen zombie dogs. At the rate zeds get slotted in our games we have never run out of figures, we just keep recycling them back onto the board.
I (we) also began playing with unpainted figures and gave them a lick of paint as and when I (we) could. If you are playing at home or with friends I think it doesn't really matter if they are painted or to what standard. It is the FUN of playing that really counts.
Have you thought of getting a "Bag o'zombies" from the Twilight creations "Zombies!" game, you get 100 of them in a bag for next to nothing (£5 or $8), OK they are soft plastic, all in the same pose and a little in the large size for 20mm but if you take the time to thin down the base on each figure you can knock about 3mm from the figures height. They also do Female zombies, dogs and clowns !!!
best of luck and good gaming,
Jim

jeffteaches wrote: Good advice from Baz - buy cheap zeds. Then, when painting them, try this quick tip: http://pshobbyshed.blogspot.com/2007/01/quick-and-dirty-zombies.htmlI might put a bit more color on their clothing and use a lighter dip, but this works brilliantly. I've not seen this one before. I think I will give a few of the plastic zeds from my Zombies! box a go, but as you say add more colour and a lighter dip. Even with my knackered hand I can do this as I don't have to be too tidy do I? Jim

That dip method turned out pretty slick!
I have twenty some odd Rebel zombies. They are very nice and I found them to be reasonable priced. I have another dozen or so unbased since I didn't want too many duplicates. I am going to try to get some more from one of their other packs and get the number up to 50.
