Trying to figure out the current TO&E for Warrior-mounted British infantry platoon.
Over on the TO&E Yahoo group I found a nice graphic of a circa 1990's platoon. It showed:
PLT HQ
- Platoon Leader
- Platoon Sergeant
- Radio Operator
3x RIFLE SQUADS
- Warrior IFV
- 2x Fire Teams, each with:
-----Team Leader (one is squad leader, other asst. SL)
-----Rifleman
-----Rifleman
-----LSW Gunner
1x WEAPONS SQUAD
- Warrior IFV
- Squad Leader
- 50mm Mortar Gunner
- 2x GPMG Teams, each with:
-----GPMG Gunner
-----A-Gunner
QUESTIONS:
1. Is this still current? If not, changes?
2. How many under-slung grenade launchers does each squad/fire team have?
3. Is the light support weapon a minimi or L86 LSW?
4. What are the organic, platoon-level AT weapons, if any?
5. Does the uniform for a Warrior-mounted trooper differ from a British Air Assault trooper? In other words, would the Britannia air assault figures work for this unit?
6. Is the 50mm mortar still used in the field or does that soldier server another role?
7. Does the platoon include a "designated marksmen" using something like a sniper rifle?
Thx!

Modern TO&E for an infantry platoon can be found here...
Actual equipment issue appears to be quite flexible given current operations and efforts to counter Taliban initiatives.

So that's where the Yahoo group got their graphic!
Still trying to figure this out a bit. Since the project is set in 2020 for a conventional war in Europe I guess I can be flexible about this too!
Would the following be reasonable:
- use minimi figures for the LSW figures in the fire teams (probably easier to tell them apart from the assault rifles!)
- have one figure per squad armed with underslung GL
- have one figure per squad armed with an AT4
Opinions?

the fireteam seems to change every few months ..
but seems to revolve around
1 SA80
1 SA80 + UGL ( nco )
1 LSW
1 Minimi
some fireteams seem to have 2 minimis ( dropped the lsw ) , some have a GPMG instead of the LSW . Others have had a sniper rifle instead of the LSW .
Indeed photos of the LSW in use in afghanistan are extremely hard to find ..
And some fireteams in the last year or so have a benelli combat shotgun as well .
Currently the Law66 is in wider use than the AT4 ( probably cos we got them cheap )

Thanks! Precisely what I'm looking for!
That's certainly a lot of squad-level firepower. I guess I'll go with two minimi buddy teams for each fire team (1x minimi and 1x rifle on each stand) and give one of the buddy teams in each fire team a grenade launcher and one stand in the squad an AT4 (not sure if anyone makes a LAW figure or if it matters much at this scale). So the squad would look like this with my basing system (2-3 figures per stand in buddy, weapon, or command teams):
1x minimi and 1x rifle w/Grenade Launcher
1x minimi and 1x rifle
1x minimi and 1x rifle w/Grenade Launcher
1x minimi and 1x rifle w/AT4
Will also order a few sniper teams as well.

I read somewhere on this forum, TMP, or Trigger Puller that US and British platoons are dramatically increasing squad and platoon firepower with extra automatic weapons, especially in Afghanistan (I'll try to find the link).
Anyway, maybe then I'll stick with an LSW figure + Minimi figure then as a "SAW Team" given my basing system and with an "Assault Team w/GL" as the other buddy team. Would probably work better for game balance anyway.
How do the LSW and Minimi compare in capability? Based on what I've read it's more of an assault rifle with extended range capability than an LMG. Is that correct?

the LSW was as what it says light support weapon its limitation was it is magazine fed not a belt fed like the minimi ,the lsw can be used like a long range rifle due to the bipod so very accurate !!! i should know i was infantry for 15 years in TA and used it often .. but for firepower then minimi accurary lsw ..

Thanks! After reading your comment I looked up some data on the inter-tubes and it certainly seems better qualified as a long range rifle than an automatic weapon used to suppress enemies.
I'm trying to decide if I should order FOF now or wait for the Osprey edition. In the meantime I'm roughing out some simple home rules which use small teams of 2 or 3 figures as the basis for mechanics.
Based on all of the comment above the following should work for home rules and FOF (whether current or Osprey Edition) using Britannia figures:
1x Command Assault Team (3x figures w/assault rifles and a radio)
3x Rifle Squads each with:
1x Assault Team w/GL (1x Rifle*, 1 Rifle w/GL)
1x Assault Team w/ATRL (1x Rifle, 1 Rifle w/AT4)
2x SAW Teams (1x LSW, 1 Minimi)
1x Weapons Squad with:
1x Light Mortar Team (1 Rifle w/51mm Mortar, 1 Rifle*)
2x GPMG Teams (1x GPMG, 1x Rifle)
*Indicates squad leader figure pointing/waving heroically, etc.

AP1 AT0 Lt support the same as a UGL.....with the Following exception
The Rafael Simon 150 (IDF) also known as M100 Rifle launched entry munition (M100 RLEM US) This round is designed to breech doors with little or no collateral damage it has a 4 inch stand off rod to insure proper distance of the entry point when it goes off it was adopted by The US Army in 2000. it is also used by the French and others and would likely be issued with a unit Breaching kit. Rather then use a FP rating I would just apply the following rule: Units with specialised Breaching kits Must declare a Forced entry action as their activation they may not do so beyond optimum range. They Must also declare the type of breech and the equipment they will use in the attempt. They may make one attempt per turn They can take no other action on the turn they attempt to breech they may still react to fire and defend themselves If forced to move for any reasons such as Morale check etc the attempt is aborted and uses up that units activation for the turn. Friendly units with in 4 inches must take a TQ Test , if the unit fails it is subject to a AP1 AP0 attack . The breech unit will abort the attempt and suffer an immediate -1 Negative TQ die shift on all breaching attempts only for the rest of the game. Breaching attempts can only be made by Initiative units. Using the grenade The unit Takes an Unopposed TQ test if the test is passed the breech is successful . An unactivated friendly Unit with in 6 inches may stack and make entry the next turn. IF the TQ Test is failed it means the stand off rod hit at a bad angle and deflected the grenade .
