1990s?
I have 1980s.
You may need to be more specific that '90s' as they underwent several changes after emerging from the Cold War period.
Fonz is ex-Belgian Army so he may know.

Not spot on, though more for 2000's really. This from here... viewtopic.php?t=457Quote: Belgian Para Commandos are comparable to British or US paras or Royal Marine Commando's but not really to SAS or Delta because they do not do special forces missions.
Our 3 para commando batallions are indeed Belgium's Quick Reaction Force. There's always 1 Bn on standby.
We have Special Forces too, which are indeed all trained as Para Commandos before they join the Special Forces and those guys can be compared to SAS, Delta, Seals etc.
A Belgian Light infantry (or para commando) Squad comprises:
1 Squad leader w/FNC (Sgt or 1Sgt) 1 Sharpshooter (= not a sniper) with AW or scoped FNC 1 Unimog or Pandur Driver (light infantry) or AIV or soon Piranha (Stryker) Driver (Mechanised Infantry) 2 teams of 3 riflemen with 2 FNC and 1 Minimi (SAW) per team A MAG 7.62mm MG can be attached to a Squad if the mission requires it, but it is not standard equipment for a light Inf Squad.
We will probably adopt the US system of 2 rifle teams of 4 men in the near future but it is not in effect yet.
A platoon has 3 rifle sections and 1 Heavy Weapons squad. This HW squad is armed with what we call the 3M's being a 50Cal MG, a MILAN AT missile launcher and a Mortar. These heavy weapons can be attached to the rifle squads if the mission requires it.
If and when Belgian combat troops will be deployed to Afghanistan nex year it will be the Para Commando's and Mechanised Infantry so if you want to use Belgians in your Afghanistan games, these are the guys you will need.
Fons Senior NCO Belgian Combat Engineers and currently serving as a basic skills instructor (kind'a like a drill sergeant)

The AT squad can leave its Milans and operate as a third infantry section... I'm suspecting that's what they might have done in Somalia, if the company TO&E was the same. Chris Piers wrote: SNIPPED

Very likely. Found a couple of Belgian Somalia vets online so have asked them... Not sure I will get a response though. Also found some anecdotal evidence of some rather... 'aggresive' encounters between US personnel and Belgian Para-Comms. I did find this thread on the Italians in the Mog...
