Hello all ! After stalking the forum for a few month, I finally bought the FOF book I found in a library in Paris (at a very good price !), and ordered some eureka miniatures. I decided to make some french troops in afghanistan, based on my best friend unit when he was deployed there 2 years ago. I also bought the marine recon guys, as they looked really nice and I wanted some "special forces" looking guys in light gear. I have order the 19 marines set from JC Figures via Victory Force, should make a nice base of troops to pick my nato troops in my future games. I will order empress miniatures as well in the future, and start some al qaeda / taleban troops too. But enough talking, lets the (bad) pictures talk ! All is still WIP, as I don't have bases yet, missing some paints and varnish. Sorry for the quality, only have my cell phone at the moment ... My AT french team and some guys with gear I haven't painted yet as the radio. my french guys, including the zombie in the back (3rd from the right). Eureka are really nice figs ! My marine recon in DCU uniform and woodland gear (looking like ELCS sets). I really like the DCU pattern, and wanted some of my guys to have in, as well as having woodland gear on it. Dunno if its accurate, but I like how it looks. Need to finish the boots ... I should upload better pictures of better finished troops, but I just received them and wanted to share my excitment with all of you ! 28mm can be great, there is incredible minis, and eureka ones are some of the most plaisant miniatures I have had to paint so far. Now in France it's 2:30 AM, I m just going to sleep ^^

Grishka....
I have the same packs from Eureka (French and USMC Recon). I just bought the French troops...so they're still in the "pack". However, I really like the looks of yours. I'm unfamiliar with French camo patterns/colors. If you used Vallejo paints, I'd love to get the colors!
Also, I have been debating what camo pattern to use for the USMC Recon figures. After seeing yours...I may follow suit...as I'm not very good with Woodland. My other thought is the MARPAT.
I have a LOT of the JC Figures USMC figures...but they are still only primed. I am planning on painting them in DARPAT (the dessert MARPAT).
Once I get some painting done, I'll be sur to share.
Thank YOU for sharing! (Merci beaucoup....if I got that wrong...please forgive my French....High School was a LONG time ago! )
- Jim

Thank you all for the support, really appreciated ! (Merci beaucoup was correct :p ) I have almost finished 2 fire team of UMSC from JC Figures, the minis are really nice, quite crisps details even if some parts are a bit "blurry" or some times too thin (ballerine dancer ankles on UMSC ? why not !). The UMSC are quite tall compared to the eureka mins, about a head taller, but the leathernecks are huge dudes most of the time ! I tried (poorly) to have something similar to Piers' wonderful elheim UMSC, but I am lacking some good pencils ... might go buy some more this week end. Try to upload WIP pics tonight, comparing size of the JC and EUREKA, and I ll give the colors references. Now I m wondering if I should buy some vehicles ( I love HMWVV and stryker, and I will definitely buy a T90 at some point), or some talebans. Tough decision ! But I will certainly buy some légion étrangère dudes in the near future to beef up my frenchs a bit, but I will paint them with a red beret to represent the 3rd RPIMA troops in which my buddy is serving:

base of the camo is medium grey (987), brown is german cam medium brown (826) and green is german luftwaffe green (979)
some devlan mud wash on the medium grey, then brown, green and black pattern. The gear is painted in khaki (988) and heavily washed. the key is not to over charge the back ground color when you start the pattern with the brown then green then black.

I just wish I could find the motivation to finish a single painting project. Great work!
