Hey Guys,

I am new here, and I am also new to the whole 15mm club. Its a smaller scale then what I am use too, so I decided to go easy on my first try and keep all the extra details out of it till I get used to it.

This is my first attempt in paint 15mm miniatures, and I did 28 of these guys today, starting right from scratch. Out of the bag, cleaned up, primed, painted, based, and coated, in about 8 hours. ( I have a game night with some friends tomorrow, and the house rule is, if its not painted, you cant play it) so I had a good excuse to rush.

Figured I fire these out there and to see what I can learn...

Thanks all for the comments. I was fast, cause I used my airbrush to to the base coats, and the topcoats. I find that the paint dries really fast when i use it that way. Its then just a matter of painting the highlights and applying the washes. And washes take forever to dry.

One suggestion. ( i'm not a photo major either But)

try and get some light source behind you so the shadows on the front of the mini aren't so dark. this will help get a better view of your work.

Thanks... Ill try that next time.. I also need to get one of those natural lights, the florescent light that I have been using really makes miniatures look even more worse then what they really are.

But, as for a Tomorrows War perspective, I would like to ask.. for my other force which I am working on, should I go with bold bright colors or more darker blues? The Khurasan miniatures that I painted first, I went with the standard green "army" colors.. but for my opposing force, should they be bright or dark? I worked on some sample paint schemes..

Here are my two base mock ups, Space Blue Pattern or the Mar Red camouflage? As mentioned above, I dont have a very good light source but figured I ask first before I commit to color..

I like the blue figure better - the colors seem better defined. The gun is better defined as well.

BTW - What make are those figures?

Thanks, I like the blue better so I did a little more work on them and this is the progress so far. I decided to denote my Squad Leaders with a gold visor, while the troops get a silver one. I also tried to get a better light, so the pictures look a little clearer now. (I hope)

Still a little bit more to do on each of them.. but I think they are coming along.

Anyone got any ideas on how to do a urban style base, or should I just go with the rock and grass style base?

Like the black metal look of the guns in the new pics. I thin the color choices work - going to keep an eye on your progress with these!

Hey all.

Its been awhile since I had the chance to post here. I been caught up with alot of work in the past 6 months or so.

I been working on my Tomorrows War table, and I snapped a few shots on how some of the stuff looks. The table is still a WIP, but I hope you guys like it. Some of my troops are also WIP, as I dont have them all based and what not.

Glad to see you make it back.
The painting looks great. Seems your blue force has come out pretty well.
The one photo that shows the blue with Yellow(?) stripes remind me of an Eldar figure.


Before you had asked about bases, I'm not real good with bases so I usually just go with the wood land/grass land style flock. Looks silly in an urban or desert setting but...

If you go the urban route I would base with bricks, scraps of wood, metal, rocks etc and use some Grey's for coloring and dusty effects.

There are a lot of sites that have examples of basing technicals. I'm pretty sure you would get some great ideas off them.

Yeah, the blue and silver really do stand out, they look good on the tables. I think I am going to do the blue force with a semi urban base when I get them all painted.

I still got my vehicles left to do yet.. I dont know what I am going to do for those yet!?

For your blue guys vehicles, try a Blue Grey base and see how that work with the infantry. Not sue silver would look right on a vehicle but thats my opinion

although gun metal might work very well for contrast.

Also, I caught your Utube Batrep and I check back often so post up more when you get time...

So,

I decided to shake things up a bit, and take a break from my painting and terrain building to play a game. So, I decided to use the solo play rules, and the Contracting Trouble scenario and mix in the Tomorrows War Rules.

So, with the intent of doing a full AAR I got started, and when the game was over. I realized I only took these two shots.. I got so caught up in the game I forgot to take pictures. Just been taking so long to make everything and paint it.. so maybe the next time I do this, I wont be so caught up.
