i wanted to create a force distinctly different than the arab type forces i have previously shown on the forum and decided that although they would still have mainly soviet weapons i went for a beret as head gear and a different colour uniform as painting those blue/grey arab type forces was straining my eyes too much.
these are the same basic figures but have a beret instead of the arab headdress.
whilst these figs have been available for a while i decided to scuplt some new ones to fill out the range including a lying mg team, some under barrel grenade lanuchers, some pkm gpmg's, an sa14 manpad aa and another rpg man,
as i cannot paint for too long and i needed to paint quite a few, so i went for a simple painting technique, just a light tan base over uniform and webbing, darker tan for boots, black and brown for the guns, slightly darker flesh and then a good wash with devlan mud with sepia wash for the sand base.
a lot easier and quicker than painting those blu/grey arabs, approx 60+ in a weekend.
the next question was what vehicles to use, i had m113's for the apc's for the arabs so i went for a wheeled apc this time and as i had a few duff strykers/lav's hanging around that was the obvious choice.
the recce unit will eventualy have 2 lav 3, but only painted 1 so far,
next is the artillery fire support and tractors.
the new figs will soon be added to the s&s models figure ranges soon,
