I've been wanting to put together some kind of underground terrain for Pulp Alley, but I have not been excited by any of the commercial stuff I've seen.
So I started work on my own today.

First I drafted up several ideas and finally decided on going for a semi-modular design. I'm going for four 12"x12" tiles that can be rearranged to make different layouts and sizes. Here are some pics of what I completed today...
Image

Everthing is placed together loosely at this point, without any glue, just to sanity-check the design and make sure it feels right.
Image

These two tiles took about 110 individual blocks, cut from a sheet of 1" Dow polystyrene.

I'm using some 1/8" vinyl floor tiles (12"x12") as the basing for these pieces. These tiles are easy to work with, sturdy, inexpensive, and align very well. The one drawback is that these tiles have a tendency to droop over time if they are not stored properly.

THANKS! :D

This looks really neat. Is that syrofoam? I use foam when creating hills and structures myself.

Yes, it is Styrofoam. The blue extruded polystyrene stuff from Dow. Its easy to work with and a little sturdier - compared to other styrofoam stuff.

Thanks,

I'm a little further along on these, so I thought I'd share a few new pics. The walls are all glued together, sealed and painted gray. I'm hoping to get these two finished up next week...

After these are completed, I'm planning on making two more so we can run through even bigger tombs.

THANKS!

You know, this would be great to use LoS rules. Keep all encounters hidden until the player's models turn a corner, then place what they see. You could even make "listen" checks around corners, and if they hear something, you could place a 'generic' monster or group until they peer around the corner.

Nice work!

Since I don't know the rules, per se, but listen/spot type checks could simply be TQ checks...Higher than 4 (4-6), you get an idea of the encounter- add generic encounter token. Beat the number by more than that, then you get to actually see the encounter as it's represented on the board.

Yes, indeed. Those are Armorcast's skull piles - their small ones. I wonder how big the large ones are? *L* :D

THANKS!

Did you try any of the "not visible" until you have LoS ideas?

I'm really curious to see how it affects game play, etc.

That looks like a lot of fun. I hope to see it at Recruits.
