Might be OT a bit, but figured I might as well ask.

Anyone know if there is a company that produces miniatures for the Colonial Marines from the movie "Aliens"? I remember there were some, I see them on occasion on e-bay.. but man, the price. I dont want them as a collector, I want to get a set to play with.

What scale are you after?
I'm going to assume 28mm because that is generally what people are after for sci-fi gaming.

Check out the range from Copplestone here;

The above three images I'd say would be your best bet though. Jungle, bareheaded and jungle characters.

Hasslefree has a very small range of miniatures that would be perfect. But there are only 3 or 4 sculpts.

My personal faves though are Ground Zero Games' New Anglian Marines from their 25mm Stargrunt range.
Painted pics available on the GZG store here;

Or more detailed unpainted shots available from the Australian Distributor;
http://eurekamin.com.au/index.php?cPath=204_207_223_228_229&sort=3a
This is what I'm planning on doing when I finally get around to my own Aliens project.

My favourites are these from Denizen [here: http://www.denizenminiatures.co.uk/]

Stupidly-nice figures & really cheap too - they are 25mm though, so a touch smaller.

They're on my painting to-do list...

Ah, it was Gripping Beast.
I knew someone else had done a range. I just couldn't work out for the life of me who.
The Denizen minis look great too. I wonder how they'd scale up against GZG?

No idea mate - but I can easily measure them properly for you if you like...

Do you mind?
I do have rather a soft spot for the GZG NAC Marines and the NSL Panzergrenadiers.

Thanks for the replies. Now, to find matching Aliens...

Would personally prefer 15mm, as that is the scale I am doing most of my historicals in (DBA, FoG, FoW, etc). Easier if I can build alot of terrain for one scale.

Anyone know where I can get decent looking "Xenomorph" models?

Right - now this is interesting...having now had a decent close look at my Denizen, they're actually all different heights - within scale, so weapons are identical size etc - but this means that they look even more realistic as they're not all clones of each other!

Just as a quick comparison: the two SAW gunners - SF2 & SF55 - are [base of boot to eye] 23mm & 30mm respectively; which of course mirrors the height difference between Vasquez & Drake in the movie...

I like these figures even more now 8)

Oh...
15mm?
In that case you'll be wanting these then :D

Check out Khurasan Miniatures for them. They also do 15mm Sci Fi Marines, but I don't think they're what you're after.

I still reccomend the GZG NAC as Marines, just this time it's their new 15mm range. Sexy as hell :) Beautiful armour too if you go for a look around their site.
Umm, bottom of this page and onto the next.

Although their older New Cal-tex could work too.

Although the other thing you could do would be take some historical minis and paint them up as colonial marines.
Battlefront's new Vietnam US airborne come to mind.

It just so happens that I am getting into the FoW Vietnam range anyway.. and since the USCM outfits WERE based heavily on the Vietnam surplus...

Thanks for the links!

Ok, looked around... from what I can tell, I can get aliens/xenomorphs in 15mm, but no good marines. I can get good marines in 20/25/28mm, but no aliens?

Yep, pretty much.
If you don't like the 15mm Khurasan minis for Aliens your next bet is the Horror Clix minis which are massive. Oh, and link to Khurasan because I left it out before.
http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/15mmscifi.html

The thing to remember is that at 15mm detail is pretty easily painted on. I reckon the US airborne is your best bet. You could do something about the weapons if you really wanted to, but I don't know if I'd bother :)

Found the aliens without too much effort, thanks. They look like they would work pretty well. Wish I could find some in the same size as the marines.

The M16's on the Airborne troops just dont look right to me I guess.

Oh well, I have time to work on this. Thanks for the help, and if you hear of any larger alien models being available, please let me know. :)
