Got finally all the bits to start with my first vehicle (one of the next tasks). M113A3 by Trumpeter and a detail set from Black Dog:
This afternoons effort:
I also cut down a Liberation HMMWV gunner so that he will fit that cupola and man the .50cal HMG.
A little conversion will also give me a Liberation tank driver that looks out of his (open) hatch. Hopefully my painting will do this model justice  . I really love its look.

Plastic kits are just fun to play with 
Assembly and conversion and all that... Besides, it reminds me of my first Airfix and Revell kits back in the day. Plastic kits are the way to go. _________________

I've NEVER been good with that testor's model glue - my seams always are poor!! And windshields are glazed!!!

I use Revell's Contacta Liquid which is having a hollow needle to apply the glue through and hence only goes where needed. BTW - a little hint: use white wood glue for clear plastic. It does not glaze the parts!
I added all stowage today and painted the driver and gunner. Once the glue has dried I'll put primer on tomorrow. Damn, it will take forever to paint that baby - there is now 2.5 billion little details to paint
Not much to see yet, just like I said: the gunner and the driver are painted.

Heh, maybe a bit heavy on the stowage?
Other than that looking good, since seeing all the great stuff in 20mm I've come to dread starting out all those years ago in 18mm. _________________

My "mobile garbage pile" was meant in a good way!
I'm pretty sure that this is one of the terms that the Germans had for the Sherman tank!

It's only looking that much because there are no tracks and side skirts mounted yet. That makes the M113 looking smaller than it is. Currently the primer is drying, so I might be able to add a first layer of Flat Earth tonight. If you look at the picture that shows the boxes for both, kit and resin bits, you can see I only added what comes with the official upgrade parts from Black Dog CZ.

some progress in basic colouring:
Ok, after primer (black spray) and a first layer of Tamiya's Flat Earth for the recesses (to add natural shades), I mixed up Vallejo's Desert Yellow and Pale Sand for a colour to match my Dragon Armour ready-made vehicles. Can't tell you exactly how I mixed it (must have been approx. 2:1) and it still doesn't match exactly, but I came close. Drybrushed with GW's Bleached Bone.
Now I need to paint the stowage and tracks.. Here's what I did so far:
Rear access ramp:
Left side:
Right side:
Front:
Gunner's cupola with .50cal:
Driver and gunner hatches:
Comparing the colour with Dragon Armour HMMWV:
