I'll give the game a chance, even after the disaster known as Medal of Honor: Airborne. Looks interesting, I guess. Reminiscent of Takur Ghar and Anaconda.
As I understand it, you play as a "Tier 1 Operator" which seems to be the direction that all of the mainstream games are going towards. That's okay, I guess, it gives them an excuse to have as few friendly characters on screen as possible, or something. Hopefully, they don't take "Ranger" to be "Tier 1", but that's okay, too.

Nope, the Ranger and the bad ass bearded Tier 1 operator are two different characters you play. And it's not just "reminiscent" of those events, it takes place around the actual battle of the stan back in 2002. I believe this is a first for a major game.

I'm glad they're differentiating the two.
Anyways, it will probably be fun. I haven't read anything about the game and have only viewed this trailer and one of the previous trailers, but are you saying that it will revolve around Anaconda? Not much of a game, if you ask me. Most of the fighting was guys from the 101st and 10th Mtn pinned down behind rocks, guys from 10th group and a bunch of Muj getting shot by Spectre, and guys from USASOC sitting in the mountains directing CAS and Spectre on groups of Taliban and Al-Qaeda fighters.
I'll check it out, though, and I think this game has the promise of making Medal of Honor a relevant game series again. Thanks for the trailer update.

I think it will take place in during the start of the invasion of Afghanistan. So propably starts from the Battle of Tora Bora and beyond. You can sort of tell in the trailer that this take place during the opening shots of the war. Would be interesting to see how far the game will take us. The screenshots that were released clearly shows rangers in DCU gear so it is definately in 2002. But who knows? Maybe it might take us beyond 2002 even.

Well, the ACU wasn't issued until Mid-to-Late 2005 (I didn't see it until September 2005 in Iraq, and that was from 4 guys who formed an Advance party, their unit didn't show up until October) so they should be wearing DCUs for the majority of the time frame anyways.
Doing the invasion is almost the only time period that makes any sense. After Anaconda, the media and the government switched to Iraq and Afghanistan just....disappeared. When I was there, there just seemed to be this sense of meaninglessness prevalent amongst the Big Army guys. Very disheartening.
Anyways, I'm sure it will be fun.

And not just USASOC my bro... SASR were directing a lot of the fast air that kept the AQT reinforcements making it to Takur Ghar and overrunning those Rangers...

Soo, who pre-ordered for the beta? I'm on PC myself, and it starts tommorow for BC2 owners. See you all there!

I have learned one simple lesson of PC gaming:
Pre-Order Nothing.
Also, Armed Assault 2's expansion comes out this month on the 29th.
