Hey all, was just wondering how the Dutch were equipped in Uruzgan and what units were stationed there. Need some to back up my SOTG but Wikipedia is sparse on info.
Cheers, Panzer.

Quote: The TFU is under command of Colonel Kees Matthijssen and consists of a Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT), a battlegroup and an air detachment. The battlegroup consists of infantry with armored vehicles and artillery Howitzers, and is based around 13 Infanteriebataljon. Elements of 42 en 43 Brigadeverkenningseskadron are also based as part of the battlegroup. If needed, they can rely on support of F-16 MLU's, six AH-64D Apache and five Eurocopter AS 532 helicopters of the Royal Netherlands Air Force.

They aint land rovers they are G-Wagens. Plus a Bushmaster, Fenneks and various other bits. The Dutch YPR is based on the M113.
It aint an M-16, though it looks pretty much the same... I think they use the 5.56mm Diemaco C7A1.
Full equipment list here...

Yes, its a Canadian C7A1. Though we are now switching to the C7A2 that has all sorts of goodies (though it hasn't seen much service in Uruzgan).
Bear in mind that the Task Force Uruzgan has now been withdrawn. There are only a few troops left who busy themselves with pulling back all the equipment.
A quick overview of the vehicles that have been used in Uruzgan:
- Merc Benz G280 CDI (now switching to visually similar 290GD). SandS will soon bring out a 75% remodelled version of the MB G-Wagen and will be working on a specifically Dutch version. Equipped with an FN MAG and either another FN MAG or a H&K 40mm AGL.
- Bushmaster IMV, which halfway were equipped with extra armour on the side. Armed with FN MAG's or with the Raven RWS. Also now a version with a robotic arm to take out IED's. Available from Wartime of course.
- YPR-765 AIFV's with 25mm Bushmaster cannon and YPR-PRCO command version with an ACAV turret with .50cal. Different battalions that rotated through used different uparmoured version. Some had none and were basic normal vehicles. Others had the ribbed armour (similar to extra armour you see on USMC AAVP7's, to British Bulldog's and what you see in Piers's pictures). And a third version was straight extra armour plates. SandS make the YPR but the moulds are very worn out.
- Patria XA-188. This was used as a patrol vehicle/APC with a .50 cal turret and an ambulance version. Newly available from SandS.
- Fennek recce vehicle, mostly used for reconnaissance, but also in patrols sometime. Available from Revell.
- Dutch Viper teams (mixed units of army Korps Commandotroepen (SASR/2Cmd equivalent) and Korps Mariniers MARSOF (SBS equivalent) also started to use a limited number of quads later during the mission.
- Pzh2000 self propelled howitzer. There were always three on Camp Holland, but they hardly ever left the base and would certainly never be present on a Force on Force battlefield.
- Unmissable were our AH-64D Apaches. However, for some reason we never bought the Longbow radars to go with them. Unfortunately, all current Apache kits come with the wrong shape electronic bays, though the Airfix kit has Dutch decals. There is a kit available from the Czechs of ArmyCast that corrects this.
- AS-532 Cougar Mk2 helicopters saw limited service. Correct version available from Italeri with Dutch decals. (only the IR radiation reducing boxes over the exhausts are missing)
- CH-47D Chinooks available from Italeri with Dutch decals.
I think that covers it.
It might be a good idea to note that the regular troops patrols used any combination of the vehicles mentioned above (except the SPH of course). Very varied according to local availability, specific mission, what vehicles had broken down, etc.
Viper teams had their own Merc's, which were exactly the same type, but painted sand brown, as opposed to the regular army's standard NATO 3-tone. Occassionally they also took Bushmasters crewed by regulars with them.
I hope this is of help. Any other questions, please ask. I'm working on Dutch myself right now btw (pictures soon, I promise).
Oh, btw, the marines did use the Landrover on a very limited scale, as well as the BsV-10 Viking.

Oh, sorry, I just naturally assumed that you were doing 20mm.
@ Shawn: in Uruzgan they ran with a very, very loose organisation that was completely mission based.
Standard organisation is a bit unclear, but should be something like this:
Airmobile Platoon:
1x officer
1x 2ic
1x medic
3x squad
Squad (called a group):
1st fireteam (called a section):
1x Squad commander
1x Para Minimi SAW
1x Rifleman w/ 40mm GL
1x Rifleman/Panzerfaust-3 or AT-4.
2nd fireteam:
1x Fireteamleader/replacement squad commander
1x Para Minimi SAW
1x Rifleman w/ 40mm GL
1x Rifleman / Combat Life Saver (specially first aid trained)
Armoured Infantry platoon in YPR:
Alpha and Bravo squads:
- 3 vehicle crew (driver/gunner/commander)
- 6 dismounts with:
- 2x Para Minimi SAW
- 2x rifle w/ 40mm GL underslungs
- 2x rifle
Squad also carries (mostly left on vehicle):
- 1x shotgun
- 1x srat (Panzerfaust-3)
- 1x vsrat (AT-4)
- 1x FN MAG
Romeo and Echo squads:
- 3 vehicle crew (driver/gunner/commander)
- 7 dismounts with:
- 2x Para Minimi SAW
- 2x rifle w/ 40mm GL underslungs
- 3x rifle
Squad also carries (mostly left on vehicle):
- 1x shotgun
- 1x srat (Panzerfaust-3)
- 1x vsrat (AT-4)
- 1x Accuracy Arctic Warfare .338 Lapua

Do the Mechanized Alpha and Bravo squads have 6 dismounts each, for a total of 12 dismounts for both squads, or 3 dismounts each, for a total of 6 dismounts for both squads?
