Seeing if there is a demo set or a good AAR that goes into high detail to understand how the game plays?

Just replace insurgents with zombies... and give the regulars a lot less in the way of weapons.

I have FoF, but TY for the answer. Just wanted to understand differences between it and Ambush Z. Really just hopping on one foot waiting for TW to be released. Lee

Looking at my copy of AZ, it reads alot like how AA used to. Added rules for different types of zombies, random movement, zombie themed events, etc.
Having never played it, I couldnt tell you if it does or does not play like FoF.

Grretings,
AZ plays just like FoF except that the zeds kind of play themselves.
Let me try to explain....
Hotspots, you have 5 to start with and add a duplicate of each one, each turn until the game finishes or you have 2x1, 2x2, 2x3 etc. on the board. At the start of each turn you roll a dice to see which hot spot the zed reinforcements are placed at -roll a 6 and you get to choose yourself which one you want to place them at. If you have two HS with the same number again you choose which of the two to place them on if that number is rolled.
Zed reinforcements are rolled from a table supplied with each scenario.
Zed movement is handled a little different to FoF. Zed's move in a random fashion, each turn you roll for each and every Zed group to see if they move or just stay in there current spot. If they move you roll 1d8 and consult the random movement chart and move the zeds a full move in that direction.
If firearms are used by the living the zeds get to make a TQ roll and if they pass they MUST move towards the gunfire.
There are several types of zed -some quite specialised, and zombie dogs.
Hand to hand combat is brutal and to be avoided at all costs by the living.
Games are fast, brutal and oh so much fun. I prefere them to playing FoF -perhaps because the solo play is much better (in my opinion here) than in FoF.
Hope this helps some,
Jim
