Hi Folks, Just a quickie for all those in the know. I am after some wheels for my Elheim USMC. I know it says in EF that they use Humvees, MRAPS and AAV's. But what is the norm currently in theatre?
Thanks for your time folks.
Paul.

Looks like Humvees, MRAPs, a whole 15 Abrams, the MTVR, and the Assault Breaching Vehicle.

Yeah, from the pictures it looks to mostly be the Cougar H(4x4)with a few Cougar HE(6x6)in there.

Watched a documentary deal on the Nat Geo channel the other day about Marines in Afghanistan and they had some LAVs.

If your talking Afghanistan definately no AAVP's.
LAV's yes - correct me if I'm wrong, from what I have seen/heard they are being used as light armored Quick Reaction Forces or for route security. M1A1's yes - single or in pairs down to platoon level (Marines going back to how we used tanks in WWII and Vietnam, as infantry support and heavy directed firepower - breeching etc.) There are two versions of the 7ton MTVR - unarmored and up armored - I have only seen it the unarmored varient via S&S models. Many varients of the ubiquitous HMMWV. Does anyone know if they are deploying TOW carriers to Afghanistan? I am putting to gether a CAAT team and the last info I have is from a copy of the Marine Corps Gazette that is over six years old. I would assume yes as the optics would be good for recon and the TOW is pretty useful for taking out bunkers, even in the absence of a real armored threat.

Yeah, the LAVs the had they said were for QRF and the one time they were using them was to take supplies to an OP as they said they were easily messed up from IEDs.

Oh, forgot the one vehicle I originally intended to mention, to give some variety. My info is dated, so again maybe someone elese with more recent experience can provide some insight, but Marine Recon has been using the Mercedes G-Wagen as their so-called IFAV (Interim Fast Attack Vehicle.)
