My Son brought this one up tonight whilst we played yet another game of AZ where Dad gets thumped no matter what he does...
Page 10 of rules
"...Zombies always notice regular gunfire and will move towards the last direction from which it came unless there hear closer gunfire or notice a living unit..."
So...
1 unit of living, 2 units of Zeds 18" & 21" away. Living are about to enter a building (out of LOS to the two zed units) and find the building is "occupied", they fight off the zeds inside and the two units of zeds move towards there location because of the gunfire. Living unit move away from bulding remaining out of sight of zeds 1 & 2 and into further cover.
Question "...Zombies... will move towards the last direction from which it came..." Do zeds 1 & 2 continue to move towards the building each turn unitl they either hear more gunfire or spot the living counting this movement as there activation. only reverting to normal "random" movement once they reach the location of the gunfire?
From the wording it appears they do?
Jim

I would say they keep moving in the direction of the gunfire until they reach an impassible barrier or something else (more gunfire, live humans) catches their attention.

I'm guessing so to...although, for some reason, I've never played it that way. lol
Our zombies moved in that direction only once that turn, then began random zombie movement the next round.

Zombies are moving towards the last sounds of gunfire. Which means if Unit A fires it will draw Zombie A group towards them. At the end of the turn since they are moving towards people they continue to do so. Random Zombie movement determines which way zombies go if they're not in contact or moving towards contact. The wording is a bit ambiguous. Either way will work so long as both sides agree!

This came up last night for us as well.. if a Zombie is out of LOS, they would be able to tell which direction the gun fire came from, right? I would say yes, so we played it that way.

Yep. They always move towards gunfire even if it's out of LOS.

And is that every zombie unit on the board? They( all zombie units) instantly activate and move to the area of gunfire? and they continue to move to area - throughout future turns - until they hear other gunfire or notice something else? And if they reach spot and nothings there- then they will mill about?

From page 10 "Zombies always notice regular gunfire and will move towards the last direction from which it came unless they hear nearer gunfire or notice (or have already noticed) a living unit." Unless more gunfire or living units are closer they'll move towards the gunfire. They keep heading in that direction until something else gets their attention. If nothing's there by the time they get there they remain there until they hear something else or end of turn random movement sends them off somewhere else. There's two ways to handle zombies and gunfire. Per the book all zombies will move towards gunfire when it occurs. Which means anytime a unit shoots all zombies will need to be moved. When I run demos at cons I've done it a little differently to streamline the game. Any living unit that fires within a zombies ZOA will draw that zombies attention. Any zombie unit outside the ZOA will not move instantly. Instead they will move in the end phase to wherever the nearest gunfire in the turn occurred. Just decide which works better for you and your group or do something different you all agree on. When time permits we're going to do an AZII that will fix some of the wording and such. It's just finding the time.
