It's going to be CGI/3D
This ruins it for me.

CGI is just a tool to keep location and stunt costs down , A tool to tell a story .....I don't give a Farts behind what they use to tell the story. I only care about the content. Will the story keep to facts and Overall will it honor those that where there. SPR wasnt compleately factual but I feel it honoured the brave men who lived and died on D day and the Normandy battles. It did not stretch what could have happened to the point of Hurt locker levels.

Couldnt have said it better myself. I would rather have a ton of realistic looking CG Abrams and Bradleys, than a bunch of non-CG Centurion tanks disguised as Abrams tanks which is what Hollywood tends to do when they cant afford to rent the real deal. Just watch the movie "Battle of the Bulge" and the obviously American Pattons standing in for German Panzers and you'll know what I mean.

There's a difference between using a little CGI and making it like Avatar which is what I gathered from the article.

It actually sounds like a pretty cool concept - an Animated modern war movie? Why the heck not? It's not different from comic books about war or video games for that matter. I'd expect it to look better than a video game cut scene ofcourse.

I think that if it's done in the same vain as CGI films like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. At least in terms of visuals and an attempt to make a realistic looking setting. Personally, I'm a fan of well done CGI animation. (no pixar doesn't count) Unfortunately I have doubts that an American company can pull it off. We Yanks hear animation and instantly either go to Disney or Naruto (Dragonball Z for the older crowd). There's alot of good stuff in between. If they keep it mainly an independent film, it just might work. Hollywood would totally fubar a project like this.
