First Post!

I have been trying to figure out a way to build group bases for FoF to simplify movement and targeting with the goal of reducing game time. However since i have little experience playing the game as of yet I don't know of the best way to base them and how it would affect my game play.

The best idea Ive found so far comes for germy.co.uk (http://germy.co.uk/2mmproject.html). In this format it appears that several models are attached to a single base with a dice indicating the units remaining strength.

My other option is to leave the dice out and use these fellows from Litko (http://www.litko.net/products/Mini-Woun ... 10%29.html). However im afraid they would get left behind or mixed up in the confusion of battle. :)

Does anyone have any input? Or recommendations to form group bases while tracking wounds?

Im basing my FoF roughly around Somalia over the past 20 years.

So i have Somali militia, Islamic extremist cells, UN forces, Delta and Rangers. Models are 15mm.

You could always mark wounded using 'casualty caps' http://www.wargameaccessories.com/images/WA01_A.JPG

These are soft plastic / rubber caps that fit over the heads of most 15mm figs without marring the paint. They used to be quite common in mass-battle type games (WRG / Napoleonics etc)

You may be able to find them in various colors or simply use the white ones and a couple different colored permanent markers to distinguish light wound / serious wounds / KIA

Thats an idea, ive never seen those before. It does solve some issues with group basing. How do others typically signal the different levels of wounded.

A little more labor involved but Chris Arnald came up with some pretty cool unit cards that could be used for multi fig stands as well..........Mikey

So its sounding like its not recommended that i group base them. Is there a way to expedite movement?

I'm doing micro armor, so fire team basing is the only way to go. In the craft department of places like Michael's Crafts and some others, there should be little plastic rings in different colors for jewelry making. I plan to use them in colors for KIA, Serious and Light wounds. Another bead is a small die that can be used to keep track of how many dice the team has left for reactions, or I can get a bunch of the 6mm size D6s for that. Litko makes markers for Overwatch that I plan to use, but with using micro-scale troops, I dont want to overload the units with a bunch of markers that have to be moved along with them. The small dice can be placed on the base with them and shouldnt overwhelm the little troops. In addition to rings to mark casualties, I plan to do some smaller "half bases" as change when a fireteam has lost half or more troops. That will depend on how many leftover troops I have after basing what I need, but it seems there are always a few odds and ends left from a pack of GHQ troops so shouldnt be much of a problem.

I am moving towards mult-basing in 15mm. For insurgent type troops, I plan to do bases with different numbers of figures and will just exchange them as needed.

For regular troops you already need to keep track of wounds so I use Litko big purple hearts to indicate that there needs to be a wound check, small ones to indicate a wounded figure and skulls to indicate dead.
