So we finally had our first play test of Force on Force/TW. Along with with any first game we had questions. I know the "How to play" answer to this because I just searched through a couple of pages of past questions, but...

Where does it say, in text, that casualties taken during the turn, before you get to the first aid test at the beginning to the next turn, DO NOT contribute to Firepower, Defensive, and morale dice?

Here is the closest text I found, on Page 50 of the FoF rulebook.

Quote:
Apart from figures with Light Wounds, a unit’s
casualties are not counted when determining the unit’s
basic Firepower or Defense
. Seriously wounded figures
are too preoccupied with their immediate survival to
contribute meaningfully to their unit’s offensive or
defensive capabilities. In a similar vein, seriously wounded
troops do not contribute Morale dice when their unit is
forced to take a Morale Check.

The fact that this text is found in the First Aid section gives the impression that it was not talking about casualties taken during a turn. Yet, it the only text that states what people, and Shawn, have clarified.

Thanks

It is talking about casualties taken during a turn as you already know...so not sure what you want to ask....Mikey

I've said before that we probably should have clarified that more in the combat section - but truthfully we just assumed that people would naturally understand that a casualty wasn't a combatant. Someday when we do a new addition we'll make it more clear.

Hello guys,

I now understand that casualties taken during a turn do not count toward your dice count for Firepower, Defensive rolls, and morale test. But my knowledge comes from reading AARs and the questions asked on the forums. I struggled last night to find in the rulebook the section that clearly points to this way of playing. As Shawn says it seems "right" to play that way, but we were looking for the actual text.

I'm hoping to teach others how to play with the FoF engine so I was preparing myself for the inevitable question "Where does it state that in the rules?"

Shawn,

As it comes up a few times maybe that clarification can be added to the FAQ.

Thanks
