I've got the new DotR on the way and so I've started looking at collecting some 160th aviation assets. In the process, it occurred to me that I have no idea how to base the things, once I get them put together. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

I use the stands you can get from Battlefront for their Flames of War Vietnam helicopters http://www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=2533

I find if the model is not too heavy, just gluing a rare earth magnet at the centre of mass on the bottom is enough to hold without having to bother to try and make a hole for the magnet (and since it is the bottom, it is not easily seen)

Depends on the scale you're using. 1/144 helos (Hey, they were cheap!) work very nicely on CDs (the CDs are a little bigger than the rotor diameter, so anywhere the CD fits the helo would) I'm looking for some 1/100 helos, and I'm going to do the same thing.

I saw a really brilliant idea for a helicopter flight stand that doesn't even need a base, really: You take some florist's wire and twist it into fat braids, about the thickness of fast-ropes. Use 4 of those for your 'flight stand'. If you use a CD for the base, put a big puff of cotton-ball "dust" around the edge of the base.
