The lads at Beast of War take on Force on Force - hear (and see) their conclusions here: http://www.beastsofwar.com/spotlight/fo ... rn-combat/

If you have time, please leave comments and opinions after the show, folks! I'm sure BoW's viewers would love to hear from folks with real experience with the game system.

They gave it a good review but I don't think they really understood the game since they meandered through the review. It was kinda painful to sit through them talking for 10 minutes.

That's a Beasts of War review...

They cover so many game systems in so little time that they can only give a cursory inspection to each one. So they always seem a bit lacking if you happen to know the system well.

They're not aimed at people who know the game well though. They provide a decent 10,000 foot over-view of the game to gamers who might be interested in the game and their videos are seen by a lot of people.

Great to see Force on Force being reviewed. I hope they do one for Tomorrow's War as well, or possibly for a Force on Force campaign books.

Hi all. After seeing the review has the design team ever though about putting together a video showing how you play through a complete turn ?

I was at Saulte this year and a couple of times I over heard people saying this very question. It would also reach out to a wider audiance.

Sorry if this question has been asked before.

We definitely want to do this - at the moment we just don't have the facilities to do it justice. We're working to resolve that, though!

Thaks for the replys. I think it would be a good thing as Ambush Alley would be one of the only companies to offer this service and on top of that it would be very useful to have the people who designed the game go through a turn showing how they play it.

I've always said that we are never to old to learn something new.

Thanks guys and I hope this could take off soon.

I think a video guide to play that tackles those hard bits of the rules that always stimulate questions would be really splendid.

We are trying to get the pieces in place to do that. ;)

Great idea, a video play through. Hope you guys can put this together. It would be a nice loop to play at a Con to drum up interest.

Right ... my 2 cents.

This was an absolutely terrible video. FoF (and indeed the guys at Ambush Alley) have really gotten the raw end of the deal on this 'review'. I say its a bad review, well the least I can do is quantify that:

- nothing was mentioned about it being scenario driven (which IMO is a massive reason [and part of] why I love this game)
- nothing was mentioned about the 'composition' of forces being centred around fire teams (they did loosely talk about troop quality and the various TQ die)
- nothing was mentioned about any expansions available for the game
- they crapped on about vehicles, and a guy with an AK-47 vs a Gun Ship - when IMO the game is heavily infantry-centric (which is clearly stated at the beginning of the book)
- they didn't even mention (nor show a screen-splash) for the Ambush Alley website (they do show several spash-screens with images littered with their various weblinks, but nothing for the game they are reviewing!)

I gave up watching Beasts of War a while ago, and this video reminds of the reasons why.

Great to see they choose to cover Force of Force, they just did a terrible job IMO.

Just my 2 cents.

Warmachine has plenty of non official videos online with people playing through their first game. Does it need to be official or just any of us with a video camera? Contracting trouble with a camera would be pretty awesome...

A good point. Lots of people have a "ok, we're playing this for the first time" game on youtube. That's how I figured out how to play Warmachine actually. And Flames of War has official play throughs on its website. At the very least it would give Shawn etc. a good idea of people are playing FoF correctly of if something is being systematically misinterpreted :)

Watching that.... well... Cursory review for sure.
With the quote "I believe that there are tournaments for this game" gives me the impression that they have no idea how the scenarios are set up...

At least its some publicity.
