Somebody asked about a source for rocky terrain but for the life of me, I cant find the thread now. I found rocky terrain at http://wartornworlds.com/ that might work. Rocky outcroppings and rocky ground that might fit your needs. I have a few sections and have seen some others that are a bit more than I can use, but then I havent done Afghanistan games yet.

One very cheap option for rocky scenery is to use gravel.

Try bark mulch.
Make sure it is dry, undercoat black, drybrush to the desired tones.
It works out awsome.
