Got my Marine platoon done in accordance with your Falujah listing. An Army platoon just needs a few more rifles painted and their ready to finish basing. Then I can move to the opfor lists. I'm getting ready to order some more stuff from CinC next week. The M-113A2 with the TC in it just looks it fills the need for the 113 ambulance. I'm going to tinker a bit with printing some red crosses on white paper and see if I can get them sized right to cut out and apply instead of trying to paint those things. The red cross doesnt scare me as much as getting a good clean white square to pait it onto. Will also get a mix of HUMMWVs that should fill in all the types I'll need. Wish I had noticed the HUMMWVs with the fording kits before I got the other ones, but I dont think anyone is going to complain too much.

Thanks. Looking forward to some more tinkering.

I hope you can find a use for the quad-.50 I tossed in with that batch of stuff. I had some leftovers from the Vietnam guntrucks. I recall somewhere seeing some set up in a firebase in 'Nam and thought of your firebase your working on.

Finished the Army platoon last night, so ready to start flocking bases. Only thing now is to order that 113 ambulance and get all the vehicles done. I was surprised that I had enough troops left over to do the special forces and things for DotR. I see that the unit structure for the 10th Mountain and the Rangers is similar enough I can use the squads I now have to run those games. Just need to make up the aircraft and a bunch of bad guys.

I will send you a M113A3 C&C with gunner, I use basicaly one US infantry platoon I made the extra fireteams to fill it out for USMC.
I can use this platoon for any US Org up to multicam, I am still trying to figure out how to do that in our scale...LOL
So Far I will send you
3 Stryker ICV, 2 Leo2 IMP, 1 M113A2/3 w gunner...Let me know if you get spares maybe I can use something.
For Air assets
I would recomend 3 UH60 Black hawk The one with the fuel probe. These can double as a Reg Lift or a SF lift...All of these where in service from Somolia to today.
2-3 CH47
1-2 MH53
Attack
OH58 Kiowa warrior or AH64
I do collect a few Fast movers but not many The A10 Thunderbolt is a Dirt eater...The rest are to far up to engage with short range ADA Guns and missiles.

Thanks. I have the CinC Blackhawks, got 4 so I could make one crashed model for the DotR stuff. The probes might not be too hard to make up. I'll take a look at them and see. Should be about the same as is on the HH-3 and CH-53 at the Air Force Museum and I just got another look at those last weekend. Got the Super Cobras to support the Marines, just waiting on GHQ to send me the right skids - skids included were from the Huey kits and didnt fit. Should have those soon. After playing in a game from the EF book where the GM used a Sea Knight to insert the SEALS, I thought I should have one, but who knows if I will ever use it. Wont need to worry about finding one should the chance come along someday, anyway.

The only fast mover I was thinking about was an A-10 too. Got some A-4s I intended for air war over Nam but found that Kuwait used them for close support in '99 for the limited number of sorties they flew. The Battle of the Bridges makes for some interesting gaming that I think few people know about. My converted "In A German Town" is losely based on that fight.

I didnt think about how the Army and Marine elements could be built around the same bases. Oh, well. :) These make a good core of troops that, if I choose to pursue company size units someday, I've got a good start. For now, I'm able to get them on the table and start playing. Having a company of vehicles may make good convoy games and dismount a platoon to secure an area while the rest of the company goes through. I knew a guy in 3rd Armored Division in the '80s that simply collected everything available to build the whole division at 1 to 1. I'm not quite that far into it. :)

Oh, on painting multicam stuff in our scale, I'm thinking just a single color, something of an average of the colors present, as a person might look to us at the distance it would take to be that small. Trying to hard to get all the different colors in there could just confuse the overall look. I'm not worried about it yet, anyway. When I start on some Deltas for DotR, I just figure black helmets and vests on the sand color pants and sleeves I already have in the leftovers of the troops. I plan to hit them with a wash of Floquil "dust" from their model railroad paints to tone down the brown and green over sand camo. I really need to start getting some photos to post one of these days.

your right for the marines the CH46 is the bird of choice as for attack The AH1W and UH1 huey form most of the birds in an attack squadron with the hueys being utility armed with MMG to HMG.
I have a 5 man fire team this includes the squad leader with one 4 Man fire team makes an army squad add a second 4 man fire team and you have a Marine squad total one five man fire team plus one four man fire team equals and army rifle squad. Add an additional four man fire team and you have a Marine rifle squad.

When you mention 4-man teams for Interps and Engineers, did you use the same sort of team, being 2 rifles, a SAW and a 203? I used all M-16s to start, but can easily scrap off 2 from each and add in the others for now. Figured the Interps might be all rifles, but the engineers might be a mix like infantry. Of course, I figured that out right after the glue set up.

for the terps I used the Unarmed Arty crews unless doing a Humint team.
My four man team are 2 rifle 1 rifle w M203 and one prone saw gunner.
the five man teams just add another rifle to rep the squad leader..
The terp gets a humwv 3 rifles and a unarmed arty crew figure.
and co locates next to Plt HQs ,when kicking doors I replace one fire team in any squad with the terp team.
The fire team it replaced goes to Plt Hqs and provides security and or a base of fire.
If Terps in your scenarios are not supplied by the BN/BDE then replace the arty figure with a figure from the afgan civ pack but be sure you Let your opponent know that the figure had Body armour and Kpot just no weapon...what I am thinking of doing instead is to just make a spare fire team and put a sticky on it to note one figure is a terp and unarmed....Mikey

Thanks. Interesting idea on the interp. I have those WW2 arty guys, leftovers from Vietnam firebase and PBR crews. Hadnt thought about this. Thick bit of paint might help show a vest. I just saw some of the programs this morning on Military Channel about Marine 3rd Recon, and they had one or two with them, so that gives me a frame of reference. Some even had something like a ski mask to conceal identity. Lots of possibilities.

Found the Ebay auctions for scale cars, bag of 100, with shipping for under $10. Wonderful! Still going to get 2 of the Irregular civilian vehicle packs for the minivans, motorcycles and the semis that look like they might work for the supply rigs that go into Afghanistan from Pakistan, or used to, or will again some day (not holding my breath on that). Just a good mix of cars to put onto the table. Thinking of doing a few smashed ones, heating up something to make tank tracks accross the plastic model, maybe a few burned out with no tires - just a little bit of work should do that to the plastic ones.
