Well, I might as well post the reason why my OPFOR are currently on hold, namelijk bits and bobs for my 1985 Dutch Mechanised Infantry force.

Been looking for a reference pic for aaaages....finally I have found one.

Image

Split windscreen due to the recoilless rifle heritage, and I don't have a spare wheel set up like that, I need to fill in the ammo bins in the rear, but apart from that I see no problems in building a single Tow jeep. In use from 1983 till 1989. ;)

Image

Need to plate over the rear and add seats on the rear. TOW mount can turn 360 degrees.

Image
Crew sofar is one radio operator and one Sergeant wearing a field cap (he's actually from the civillian range with an Uzi, very useful for my Dutch) that I'm slowly building into the right shape. I need another guy to be a loader or something, 3 people around the vehicle is enough by my standards, and I can't fit a gunner and keep it movable. All of the crew are based on 1 cents, I kinda started doing that since I was working on the Brittania Trawler and 1 cent coins make everything so much easier to fit instead of my standard 2 cents I use for regular infantry.

Some more progress om the M38A1C

Bumper built, rear filled in, needs a bit more filler and filing to straighten it out, then build some benches. Decide to permantly fix the driver in place, he just needs to duck in time. I will have to update his helmet though, with netting and goggles.

Other WIPs from my force.

Added the shielded loading area and the struts for the TOW mount, shielded the rear periscopes (I only need to do that, oh, 28 times or something....) and replaced most of the other periscopes as they tend to not cast very well sadly. Brass wire for the steel fuel cap protectors which I just noticed should be on the YPR's). I propably won't mount the MAG on this one as I would need to make something to attach it to the tow mount base....

I'll show you the occasional bits, not all of it. Not untill after the game in August 2010 anyway

Image
Made a new hatch for the bandaid, put in a AB english WW2 crewman as they fit best with the look we had. A few more scopes and also steel fuel cap protectors 8)

As the M38A1C1 and the rest is currently on the painting table, I'd best get cracking with the rest of my force. Next up is the M113 C&R, and no, it is not the Lynx. The Dutch version is substantially different from that one, and ours was upgraded with a 25mm turret in the 70's.

Current status:

It is based on the Lynx made by SandS (which in realty was a modifed M113 C&R)

Next up:
-remodel drivers hatch
-copy said hatch to the right side of the model
-build a 25mm turret base and magnetise
-build a 25mm turret and make sure the cannon can move vertically as well
-add floatation boxes to the rear
-cut out a opening in the side and score panellines
- sand down and increase the size of the trim vane on front
-fill in the tapered sides in the front, they should be flat

A ton of work for 1 lonely scout, but no one makes these so better get stuck in it.

Oh, and say hi to the boys.

Getting there...slowly.

Image
(fltr: YPR-TOW, Lightweight Landrover, M38A1C1 and YPR-GWT)

Managed to put my decals in another place then the WIP boxes and after a few hours searching they are still missing......so I ordered extra sheets.

Grey basecoat, Olive green base, the dip all over, then drybrushed with Olive Green, and then I just took a cotton tip and rubbed the areas that have wear so they are darker, and chipped some parts of that with a Dark Grey and Olive Green mix. Iraqi Sand drybushed ever so softly all over, and the decals I did apply (only on the bandaid) I just chipped with pure Olive Green.

Maybe the tone isn't 100% perfect, but it is pretty fast compared to my usual speed and I'm happy with them.

Lots more to do though!

Lovely figs mate.
Was thinking this was dead in the water. It's great to see some of the nations we don't often see being represented for the game so well :)
