i have been watching this new series with robert carlisle ... but is it me or is nothing happening ... it seems very slow and almost painful at times .... i have a feeling i am wasting my time ...
destiny going thru the star in the last episode was a spec effects wonder , and seemingly highly unlikely .. but twas the series highlight so far ..

It is alright but seems that every episode there is a crisis that they have to overcome or die. That plot line is getting thin. I like the show and I think the writing is coming into its own and that the actors are getting better at interacting with one another but it needs to speed up.

Yeah will have to agree that it is very slow at the moment, and I do hope that they will inject a bit of action into the story lines soon.
I think that they are trying to make it a bit more gritty like Battlestar Galactica (the new one), but so far it is falling at the first hurdle.
For me the new Battlestar was the ultimate Scifi series and stargate falls very short.

Im just willing for there to be a Mutiny on board.
or have Eli use that camera to watch Lt Scott and Chloe.
Maybe have Doctor Rush find a way of dialling earth popping back to Earth stocking up on Haggis and whiskey and then returning.
now that would be a cool story line.
i get the same feeling. But i keep watching in the hope something will happen bring on the bad guys.

kinda agree , except the ending was possibly the biggest anti climax's ever ( apart from shagging kate moss LOL ) .... and the whole final 5 thing was bizarre ... didn't make any sense at all ... like how if they were on the 13th colony fighting the civil war ... how did they get back to the 12 colonies ...
the 3rd series ?? with lucy lawless was awesome .. !!!!!

I have been wanting to give the show a shot but I keep forgetting on Friday nights. To me, nothing will compare with Stargate-SG1 with Colonel O'Neil in command of the team.
I am sorry to hear that SG:U is not faring very well. I did see the first couple episodes and even then to me it felt kind of like "Where is this going to go?" to me. Unfortuntely it sounds like it is still going that way.

I liked SGU better the first time I saw it...only then it was called "Space:1999"
I'm not a fan of the show. Too many of the episodes I have watched have not had the humans doing anything but being "saved by the ship"--which is pretty weak storytelling.
Maybe it will improve. I remain hopeful.
Until it does, I'm going to rewatch episodes of S1999.

I love Space 1999 as well. I have been watching some of them again as Netflix has them.

I've watched pretty much every episode and I prefer the older series so far. I definitely like Robert Carlyle's acting and the interviews he gives, he seems very friendly and down-to-earth (no pun intended). I also like his description of the Dr. Rush character.
I miss the humor from SG1 and SGAtlantis though and I like both of the military personnel from those shows loads better than the ones in SGU. I'm not sold on the leadership of the young LT, however, I guess the SSgt. isn't that bad really.
I don't like the direction they're going in regard to all of the "romance in space", I think it's kinda out of place and from the last episode it looks more like it's turning into a "soap opera in space".
Bottom line...I'm gonna need more gun play and less romance crap, if I'm going to continue to watch the show regularly.
Just my 2 cents worth though. I'll give it a chance...

I know this is an old thread...but I thought I would add that I had mixed feelings about the mid-season "finale"...not sure I like the way it played out, of course it is hard to tell since I don't know how the season is going to end...
Thanks!

Dr. Rush is lucky. If I were the Colonel I wouldn't have left him stranded. It is pretty obvious though that the Dr. will gain access to the ship and show up in a later episode.
