Very nice.
However, if I may pass on some information I was given by a friend in country; the shirt/trouser combination (shalwar kameez or pirhan tonban, depending on which local language you're after) should always, always match. They're worn (and sold) as a combined set).

thanks for the info Matakishi, I was watching a documentary the other night about newcasters meeting taliban fighters and noticed how bright the colours of the dress were, very few dark clothing was worn and if so was usually the wastecoat or jacket.
every project is a learning curve, thanks for your input.

Can anyone comment on whether Empress Miniatures figures are compatible with those previously produced by Mongrel Miniatures?

hi Alan,
I have just painted both, you can see the mongrel figures on my other thread. I found the mongrel figures to be slightly chuckier than the figures from Empress and the Mongrel figures tend to have older style weapons. The ones in the other thread being armed with AK47's, lee enfields and a Pssh 44. They also seem to be in more military style dress.
However having just finished the book helmand Assault about 3 commando and thier tour during the winter of 2008, they where still finding lee Enfields then.
To be honest if the figures are painted in a similar style and based the same they will look quite comfortable together.
Just for info the Mongrel range is now available in the UK through Newline Designs.
just my humble opinion, hope it helps
Steve

My mates 'in country' said they often didn't match, bought matching maybe be not necessarily worn as such ... checked before I painted mine with pictures and it did indeed seem standard ... makes painting them a damn lot easier though
