Does anyone have any suggestions for where to find Palm Trees suitable for 15mm?
I have found some from architectural supply places but they are VERY expensive.

March on down to your local supermart go to the baking dept and ask them if they have any extra to sell you or if they could order some for you or give you the info to order your own. go on line google plastic palm trees in your scale etc etc etc as Yule Brenner said in the king and I.....Mikey

I will try the cake decoration path first. Thanks. I had googled "1/100 Palm Trees" before my first post and got the expensive architectural trees but when I googled "15mm Palm Trees" after your reply I got a bunch of cheaper gaming palm trees. http://www.jrminiatures.net/375515mmpalmtrees12ea.aspx Goes to show that it is worthwhile trying things in different ways.

No problem. I have had several orders from them and never felt ripped off or lost an order. As you say there prices are quite competative.

Since Early April, I've bought a few hundred palms, and a few hundred deciduous from Ebay places in China for my 1:72 / 20mm Charlie Company layout I'm building. Various heights of trees of all kinds, bole thickness, etc can be found if you look. Dozens of auctions. I think it paid dividends to take my time and be choosy.
On average took a week and a half to two weeks to arrive, but my trees I ordered got here. Typically Arrives in a ziplock inside a cardboard box. Tracking from China takes a week or so hanging out in outgoing post. Once it leaves there, it's a bunch of days to a week after that.
Not your scale, I realize, but .. in my book the scale doesn't matter unless it's where the leaves are at the guy's head level.
I searched 1:72 Palm Tree in toys and hobbies. As I recall there are four or five Chinese suppliers. Many of them have a hundred bad feedback, per month. I don't care if his rate is 98%, I don't go there if it's a hundred plus bad, since I got my own store, I got pride in customer service when I sell, and I don't want to be one of those hundred dudes ripped off.
wehonest_cn - Decent guy, emails back in a day or two if you got questions. Decent looking for the low price...which is exactly what I needed. Their miniature people are not worth it, kind of melted faces / no features. I prefer this guy, like I said for *okay*Quality, and low price. I'm setting up to order more trees, different kinds after the first.
I could snap some pics of these, laid out next to some EASYMODEL M113's and 1:72 Scale / 20mm Unpainted Italeri Spec Force guys [pstill kitbashing some of them at this point] for an idea of what this is about, if you like.
cnmodelnt - free shipping on a lot of auctions. Takes a while to get to US.
There are about 3 or 4 American stores, that sell half the number of trees, at double the price, and don't seem like they are trying as hard with their ads.
Good luck.

I agree that the actual scale doesn't matter for palm trees -- or any other trees for that matter, there is a certain range of heights that look good but if you get to tall they are just getting in the way!
If it is not too much trouble for you to post pics that would be great, thanks. I am going to have to take some time to browse through what these chinese eBay stores are offerring.

I know it was directed to the other poster, but close to it. I'm doing my 4 X 8 board, multiple stands, so I can move things around, and rig up pre-set bases on styro (for multiple elevated jungle) , along with terrain perimeter felt with lichen and such. Enough so that I can do a 25 or so mission campaign from a month from now till winter. Plus I'm doing a 3 or 4 feet long X 1 foot deep Vietnam themed diorama for an art contest at the local VA hospital. So that needs a lot of trees. I'll get on those pics right now, for scale. An hour or less. --------------- EDIT ------------------------------------ Here we go: 3 palm trees. From Largest to small code M003, M004, M005. No idea why they do it that way. The figures are Mostly 1:72 American Special Forces, 22.7 mm 1" tall. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm79 ... 3Palms.jpgCloser in, more detail. They are mostly a bit shiny, but have nice detail along the trunk line and leaves. Some have some minor flash plastic along the trunks. In my case, I'm not going to bother to remove it. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm79 ... detail.jpgTwo Scenes from different angles, and focus, to get the flavor. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm79 ... yScene.jpgThe white strip in the back is a 1/4" Thick piece of styrofoam I picked up off the floor in Wal-Mart in the clearance area. They gave it to me as scrap. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm79 ... ndM113.jpgGood luck with your setup.

The trunks on those palm trees look much better than I expected.
I hope to do some terrain for Vietnam as well -- though probably next year, I think yours will look good with all those trees!
