Hi,
yesterday I played "The Alamo" and there arose a doubt. When I shot at a gun truck, the crews had to do an unbuttoned test.Is this ok,or because is an open vehicles,we made a mistake (my friend said that unbuttoned is for is for the crews of AFV)?
Thanks

What target? We were just doing a functional check. Was that live ammo?

Your friend was right sort of see below but hey it 's ok its a learning process. on page 79 Fire at Infantry in Open topped vehicles/vehicle riders.

Infantry in opened topped vehicles or riding on top of vehicles such as a Tank are fired at as if they where In cover (+1 Defense Die). If the vehicle is an opened topped AFV they are fired at as if they where in Cover behind solid cover ( +2 Defense Die). If the unit is in Body armour it may claim that Defense bonus as well.

Ok,but the test was of the crews of the gun truck. There wasn't infantry riding on the top.So, I assume that if the crews have a test of unbuttoned, they'll make this test, whether or not in an AFV or soft skin vehicle.

The rules on page 79 are specific to open topped vehicles like gun trucks and include the weapons crews and drivers and any passengers . The folks that hitch rides on vehicles are just treated in the same way.
One suggestion might be (if you feel this mechanic is not meeting your needs) is a house rule Using the unbuttoned rule to drive the guys manning the weapons to duck down behind the sides of the vehicle or basicaly becomming buttoned its up to you have fun .....Mikey

Hey I just thought of something I may not be on the same sheet of music ! by gun truck if you mean like a humvee with a turret mounted weapon then yes you would be correct.
Im thinking of an old school gun truck like that used in Nam....Mikey

Yes,was a Hummer (the Fog of war card says gun truck, but I assume that in Iraq is a Hummer).
However when I use a gun truck,I must use the rules of infantry in open top vehicles.Thanks.
I prefer don't use house rules, because I'm learning the game and don't want add other.

No No I was wrong if it was a hummer then the gunner is indeed in a turret and may be forced to button.
so you where right ....Mikey
